Hey guys, Newbie here. Back in 87, I bought a new Escort GT. Recently, I had a friend ask me if my old car had an aluminum or cast iron intake manifold. After checking the original sales brochure and searching the web, I'm unable to come up with an answer. Can anyone tell me if the intake on the 1.9 HO was aluminum or cast iron? Also, I remember it had an exhaust header from the factory, but can anyone tell me if the stock exhaust system was stainless steel? Thanks!

look at your exhaust piping, if it's rusted at all then it's not stainless steel. as far as the intake, I have no clue what it was made of. If you're the original owner and can't tell then I (never having owned one) would be even more clueless. :)

The exhaust manifold is either cast iron (log style manifold) or steel (tube style manifold. The exhaust pipe itself is just plain old steel. The intake manifold looks like it could be aluminum, but it's so heavy I want to say it is cast iron as well. It could just be a very heavy piece of cast aluminum.
