I put ngk iridium ix plugs in my 1998 escort lx 2.0 SOHC about a month ago. I bought the plugs because i read iridium plugs last awhile and work very well. I also put new ignition autolite ignition wires on when i upgraded the plugs. The other day i had a misfiring problem and the ignition coil went bad. The car runs now with the new coil, the old one had a crack over top the electrical connector. About 5 months ago i had to remove the iginition coil from the mount to get to my thermostat, and maybe thats when the crack happened and i didnt notice. Anyway, i was just wondering if i need some special wires for performance plugs or anything like that?

The stock wires are pretty good, although I've heard of some new MSD wires that are very low resistance, which would make for a hotter spark. I think they're called Super Conductors, and I think Taylor makes similar ones...they're essentially spirally wrapped wire that is inductive and cancels any noise, while being less resistive than the standard RFI-canceling wire.

EscortFocus' plug wires and coil packs are just repackaged. They didn't make them or have them made.

I have Nology Hotwires on my blue car. Each plug wire has an individual shield grounding wire. They were $$$, but I honestly can't say they were any better than my previous plug wires, which were Borg Warner 8mm wires.

Yeah those are overprised msd coils. I have seen them new for $70. As for wires you can do what I did. Buy the Ford Racing wires for a 96-98 4.6L 2v mustang GT. You will have 4 that will be perfect and a mismatched set. The real long ones in the mismatched set can be shortened with the correct tools. For $70 you get 2 sets of 9mm plug wires. EFP wants $80 for 1 set of 8.8mm.
