I bought an alarm (DELTA PRO-5005 also called Panther PS-FM or something) on ebay a while back. The auction says it's manual transmission safe, but the little booklet says not to install it on manny's. I don't know if that's just for liability sake or if there really is a problem with it. Anyways, I have no idea how to install this thing, where to place it, what wires to run to through the firewall or where to hook wires into the ignition for the remote start, etc. Would someone that knows how to install alarms and has experience installing them in scorts write up a little how-to or something? How do I bypass the clutch for the remote start? Why are there two +12v wires coming from the central unit? So many questions :(

Do Not hook up the remote start. All it takes is you forgetting to take it out of gear & bam! YOu just hit something or killed someone. Or your car is taking a leasurely drive down the road. Maybe u should just get a pro to install it. I've done an alarm in my car, but I don't think a text writeup gives enough info. Here is a wiring diagram though...

Do you know any of this information, like about the ignition wire for the 98 scort?

Oh, and I hooked up my remote starter and it works fine, I even sat in it, put it in first and did the remote start and it tried to start and go down the road :/ So much for the neutral safety switch, wherever the hell that is.

well my friend i can say i have the manual and i have the remote start.

But there's good things to my install. In order to have remote start on an automatic car the alarm is hooked to the "neutral safety switch" which means when the alarm reads a ground on that wire the car will start. So i grounded that wire and placed a lil metal flip switch to it and have it in a spot it cannot be bumped. Whenever i think that someone else will drive my car i always flip it off.

Other than that, i never leave my car in gear, ever, unless i'm on a hill and so i never forget that its in gear.

Its all about how self aware you are. I did have one incident w/ the remote start and it shattered my front bumper, but that was not my fault.
