I need to replace mine and my manual only goes as far as replacing the rack. My rack is fine, there is no play in the steering wheel.
Are there any special tools needed to replace them or will it all be pretty straightforward once I get started? I already did the outer tierods and lower balljoints.

if u don't have one, u need an inner tie rod socket. i think they're called somthing different. i can't remember. when i was doin mine i had to run to autozone and do the loan a tool.

Autozone had the tool. It looks like a loooonnng socket with a 1/2" drive end. It worked great for removing the old OEM part but the replacements are redesigned and you need to wrench the inner end which is a PITA due to lack of space. I used hose clamps to replace the metal boot bands.

Both sides are done and the "clunk" is gone. I need to get it aligned now.
