Cutting the amber lens was easily 5 times worse! I put on a face mask and long sleeve shirt, and of course safety glasses...I would like to see them when done. Hopefully, all will be mocked up this weekend, and I will start on the turn signals for practice. I don't think I will sport them if they do get finished...we'll see!

Update! I have one marker done and ready for paint! I painted the other while working on the one to show what I am going for. The side marker mod went great; I am confident that the headlights should turn out nice as well!

The P/S light pods are cut and ready for install. I am testing cutting and smoothing techniques with the donor lens, once dry from paint, I will mock in the pods...

The pod is bondo-glassed in and solid!

First coat of finish bondo for fill.

    After second coat and smoothing.

Here is the one that was painted and it needs to be fused in, but I did this for more to help visualize final product. I have masked off the reflector for legality purposes. If I keep them, I would black out/tint paint the reflector so it is not as bright in comparison to the black housing. It's nice, they are paintable now.

Price is a good question... I guess the hardest/expensive things are the housings. I bought the MX6 housings used for $45, I need another set of stock headlights for $50-60. I need housings where the bracket can be removed without breaking the mounting tabs. The local PnP wants $30 a pop! I found a new pair on ebay for $52 to the door. I might have to wait a little longer to get some stock housings... So far the side markers (near completion) took like 4-5 hours of actual work; not waiting on bondo setup or paint dry... I couldn't charge by the hour, too pricey.

If I was provided all housings and was only charging labor and supplies, what do you guys think would be a fair/acceptable price? I charge between $50-100 for one of the grills, so I have no idea. I encourage those who wish to try for themselves. I have zero formal training and my full slat grill was my first real use of bondo, I just know what I like. I keep going until I am happy; I am hard to please...ask my wife!

Sweet, go for it! I painted the donor lens and have the pods ready, I have the pods in loosely and the final product should look close to this...but I will sand off the lettering on the final.

The camera has horrible glare, the actual blue light is much more crisp.

is it possible to take the backings and drill holes in them matching the size of the housing? so it in essence slides over the lights and can be put back together and slide into its place on the car?

If you used a hole saw smaller than 4"on the front. The OD on the pod is 4". So a 4 in the back and a 3 7/8" or something on the front; do hole saws come in such sizes? It would be difficult to cut with precision and accuracy with all the contours and thicker areas on the back, but hey, find a broken donor lens and try it out! You want the lens hole to be slightly larger than the ID of the pod, so it can be blended together. I did it this way because of my technique of "bondo-welding" the joints. It has worked well so far... I left the mounting points undisturbed and may have to trim some of the bracket to clear the low beam pod. plus the lights being adjustable make aiming easy and the lights can be pulled back in the pod, for different looks IMO. All I am sure of is I'm stoked!

The side maker lights are "done". If I keep them, I will spray the amber reflectors with the tint spray... I have them flat black to leave options available. IMO the flat black looks good.
