How the HELL do you get them out?

My girlfriend's car decided that it was no longer going to relinquish her ignition key. The issue that I am running into is how to get the two roll pins that is holding the assembly out without taking the entire switch out.

It's a 95 Wagon with a 1.9 and and automatic.

Sorry I can't help, but I feel your pain.. I tried to take the cheap way out also, but nothing will get those pins out! I broke many a drill bit (expensive ones, too) before I gave up and sprung for the whole shebang.

It must be able to be done, since they do sell the ignition part separately, but HTH those pins come out is beyond me..

I just replaced the lock cylnder in my son's 1995 Escort LX. I used a drywall screw to start into each of the roll pins. Once you get a bite on the roll pin, take a pair of pliars and pull the pin straight out.

Turned out to be fairly easy. One of the drywall screws pulled out of the roll pin because I didn't have enough of a bite on it and I had to use a new drywall screw. The threads apparently are only good for one try.
