I had a friend with an older 350 Camaro, sold it for the same reasons, bought a 3.8L Mustang, was very upset for it. He recently totaled the mustang and got a newer Camaro with an LS1 engine, Viper 6speed, and loads of mods with the insurance money from the Mustang.
Moral of the story, total your car at someone elses expense.
I still go my 3rd gen escort.. I had a MOD motor 2v prior to the cobra.. I missed allot of the gen 2 SN95 stangs, creature comforts. I really am not into 16V performance. I am a ford guy, and a member of a domestic car club here in FL. I looked at an LS1 WS6 and they are not reliable enough when modded to be anything but a track car...
And I could not have gotten a better deal.. I am only paying 7500 (auction) for the stangs. Comparable T/A's are selling for 10-11 because of limited number of good specimens left.
guys.... im no chevy guy but you make it sound like the ls1 camaro is not equivilant to the gt. ls1, isnt that a corvette motor, and viper tranny... it sounds like a comperable ford would be the cobra which run in the 12s stock.
its like saying i got an escort lx but i should have gotten a civic si because its much faster for its money, when really the si would be most comperable to the egt.
