Alright can anyone tell me just how fast late 90s V6 Mustangs are SUPPOSED to be? Because When I end the race when shifting into third gear at 75 mph with this guy 3 car lengths behind me...Either my car makes monster horsepower when it´s cold or Mustangs suck worse than I thought they did...

Ok here´s how it went down. I was just driving around looking for something to eat, well I decided to look for a kill while I´m at it, if i get killed, so be it. Well I´m going south into downtown and I get to this one light at Berry St, and I noticed this red V6 Stang pull up next to me and the guy was sittin there staring at the cross road light, so i know he´s ready to pull out and get in front of me...I´m not going to have it
So when our light turned green, I took off, so he proceeded to get behind me, immediately I know he´s going to go east on Jefferson, which is the same way I´m going, so I make the turn on Jefferson and continue down the road, he pulls next to me on the left side. the light turns green and I head for the open lane on my right, he proceeds to fly over two lanes and gets right behind me, all the next two the lights turned green for us as we get to them and so I headed back into the far right lane which doesn´t turn into an "only" lane, and so he got back into the lane on my left again. At the next light, I wanted to show him what I got, I blasted first gear and took off. (although i don´t know if he was truly trying) had him by two car lengths, at which point i told myself "he wasn´t tryin" so we go around the "big bend" in the road and get to the next light which is Anthony Blvd. (right in front of where my timing belt snapped March 1st) I drop to second and get around in front of him into the open lane on the left, surprisingly he let me too... light turned green, i checked cross traffic and took off. When we got to the LAST LIGHT before open roads until the cloverleaf, I was right beside him. He pulls up, i pull up and we stop. We watched the light turn green.... and SCREEECH...this time I know he tried, but I already had him. I push the clutch, slam it into second and floor it, he´s just behind my bumper, so i grab the clutch and dump it into third. shit...75 mph in a 35 f**k!!!!!! slam on the brakes, and notice he´s at least 3 car lengths behind me, as he came right up next to me, I started shaking my head and saying outloud "no way in f*&(*(ing heck I just kicked his ass... we get through the second bend of the road where the one way conjoins with the opposite one way and i turn on my fogs and nozzle lights, drop a gear and fly past him again. We continued on like this until I got back into my city and decided I wanted wendy´s good thing the light wasn´t clear of traffic, there was a sheriff sitting at it... so i rolled my window down, he came up next to me and i gave him a peace sign, and noticed he was on his phone talking to someone as he started revving his engine. then I turned into wendy´s and got some dinner. Thats my latest and actually my MOST SURPRISING Kill. I´m so happy, I murdered a V6 Mofo´in Mustang. I´m goin to bed with a smile on my face tonight. I can guarantee it.

I think its the same V6 in the cougar that´s in the base model mustang, and I took a V6 cougar with 3 passengers in the scort. The guy in the cougar was pissed off. If the mustang was an auto I dont see why you wouldn´t kill one by that much even.

I´ve driven a 96 5sp stang. It was way more powerful then my LX, but still not the most pwoerful car I´ve ever driven...

Anyway, on my way home from work yesterday, there was this jackass behind me in a dodge ram pickup giving me shit and tailgating me even though I was pulling my normal 62mph in a 45mph... he was about to pass me on this one stretch, and I was in a pretty rotten mood... (heh heh heh!!!) so I slam it into 3rd and floor it and we´re both goin at it trying to hold our own... eventually a car comes around the bend in the distance and he´s forced to tuck back in behind me and the line turns solid... but I held my own like a good escort should for a good 200 yards or so! I was goin 95 in a 45 and I was like sh*t! so I let off the throttle while in 3rd and I got that orgasmic feel of the front end nosing down and the engine giving that wonderful snort as the whole car powers down to normal.... life is good when you´re driving a 4-banger...

heheh it was kewl...
:D:D

hey man I use to own a 97 v6 stang and there only rated at 150 hp. With the light body of the scort and 127 HP the stang is crap. I had a 93 lx at the same time and the stang would just beat it. The new v6 stangs are around like 190Hp so they may be a better race. anyway good kill man!

Blade,
The Mustang V6 is the 3.8 (Vulcan, I think-I know the Taurus 3.0 is Vulcan but I think the 3.8 is too) that´s been around since ´82 in alot of fox chassis cars and the 86-95 Taurus/Sable, Tbird/Cougar and the Windstar. It made 165 hp in the 94 on Mustang and went up to 195 when they sharpened the body. The fwd Cougar has the 2.5 Duratec found in the Contour/Mystake and makes 170 hp there, and 200 in the Contour SVT. Unless you are talking about the previous, rwd Cougar, then disregard my comments.

The Taurus 3.0 is th Vulcan, the 3.2 is also the Duratec (along with the SVT Contour 2.5) and the 3.4 was the SHO model. A 1995 Mustang V6 does 0-60 in 9.9 seconds. the 99 model V6 does it in 7.1 seconds. It looked like it was in between those two years.

My goal is to take on Camaro Z28s with my Scort, which will rip apart Stang GTs, easily. SVTs might take some NOS along with the Turbo, but I see maybe two or three SVTs around town every month, so I really don´t need to bother with NOS.

Yeah SVT Contours can be easy, I haven´t seen many of them around at all. We were talking about SVT Stangs though, which hang up there with the Camaro SS

I have a neighbor with a 89 turbo talon TSi. Its the FWD turbo model. Still with 2.0L and nothing but new IC pipe he turns the boost up to about 22psi and whooops up on Corvettes. Well at least thats how he makes the money to fund his custom bronco with all the off road goodies.

People look at his car and laugh, so he takes they´re money, whether its bracket night at firebird, or the hwy at 2am.

The Cobra IS the SVT. Try to find a 2000 Mustang Cobra R. I hate Mustangs, but that is by far the best looking Stang on the planet. I´d still take a Camaro over it.

Yes the 3 liter in the taurus is a vulcan, but I think the 3.8 is or was called vulcan too. It was around first(since 82 versus 86). The 96 - on Taurus have the 3.0 vulcan and a 3.0 Duratec. It is enlarged from the 2.5 Duratec found in the Contour. That 2.5 is Duratec whether it is SVT or not. I was saying the Cougar has the 2.5 non SVT Duratec, not the 3.8 that is in the Mustang, unless he was talking about the old rwd Cougar. The only 3.2 is the 93 - 95 SHO automatic, and it is not Duratec, it is the same Yamaha as in the stick, just 200cc´s bigger. The 3.4 in the 96 - on SHO was a V8, and also a Yamaha.

please correct me if im wrong, but from what ive understud was saleen, stillen, and i think theres another-one, are after-market companies that take mustangs directly from ford and make them bad ass.

ive never liked mustang, due to the popularity. but if i i would definatly buy the saleen s7 click below, and get ready to catch your jaw

The other company you´re trying to think of is Rousch.

Here´s how you break down your competition:

Mustang Base V6
Mustang GT (newer) 4.8L SOHC
Mustang SVT 4.8L DOHC

Saleen -- sometimes as small as a 289 sometimes with a full 351. Depends on the exact make. They´re almost made to order type custom. But with a Saleen you can expect to find a supercharger under the hood. Easy to spot with the Saleen bodykit.

Rousch -- This things are RARE. And InSane! usually supercharged or twin turbo´d. I´ve even seen a 351 twin turbo´d putting like 1000 ponies down.

The upper model Cobra is the Cobra-R its a totally built 4.8 DOHC ( I think). Usually you can find some forced induction under the hood with them too. You can usually pick them out because of the funky looking spoiler that looks like the ones on the Mazda MP3

Blade you´re pretty much right on, except on the displacements: The Mustang GT has a 4.6L SOHC, w/ 260 hp. The SVT has a 4.6L DOHC, w/320+ hp. Unless you´re talking about the 2000 Mustang Cobra R, then you´ve got a 5.4L DOHC V8 w/ 391 hp/ 391 lb ft torque. By the way. the 2000 Lotus 190 takes the 2000 Cobra R by more than a few 10ths of a second in 0-60 and 1/4 mi, not to mention it out slaloms it, did its laps quicker, and stopped in a shorter distance. I was laughing when i saw that.
