Check this site.. has some funny items, but some i do not agree with

http://www.goingfaster.com/spo/you_might_be_a_ricer_if.html

such as the following

You install clear corner lights

If your tailpipe extension is the most expensive mod you've done to your engine yet. (YET!!)

You think the Del Sol is a sports car... (its not?
)

Your four cylinder has a dual exhaust system installed

If you´ve ever gone to a parts shop or speed warehouse and asked for a 1" to 6" exhaust adapter... (thats just halarious)

You have neon INSIDE your car or in your ENGINE compartment

If you paint your drum brakes to simulate Hi-po calipers (the guy b4 did that! not me
)

Clear tail lights and turn signals. They're colored for a REASON!

thats all the good ones i dissagree with.. maybe im just a ricer.. i doubt it hto

I´m startin to get sick of these "ricecop" *******, I mean whats worse than ricing your car out? spending all your time whining about what other people did to their cars. Get A Life! geez I don´t have a life but this is pathetic. Why should you care what people did to cars that you don´t own or drive and rarely see anyway? I just hate it when people do that to American cars...like the Cougar I saw with an aluminum wing.

Err...James? Are you knocking my SVT, there?

Just because the Asian car nuts are *ALL* doing the same gawdy mods to their cars, that doesn´t mean an American car can´t be similarly dressed up. Almost everybody is taking performance-coupe-wanna-bes and slapping the gear on, but the ´rice´ thing is a misnomer. I think ´tuning´ is the better term, as it applies to all makes doing the same mods.

But the ricecops are dfinitely over the edge. Clear corners is the most obvious idiotic complaint since so many cars come with those STOCK...but they complain when you swap them into a car that had amber?!? So, it´s OK on a Tracer, but not on an Escort?!?
Duh!

Hmmm....and just what are the ricecops driving? Hmm...

I´m guessing beat-down late-eighties IROCs with the multi-scooped raised fiberglass hood (that has no functioning air inlets), a Kenwood cassette deck loosely placed in a gaping hole in the dash and fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror, perhaps? A Culture Club tape stuck to the rear floor by an old Big Gulp spill that occurred that day 2 years ago when they almost blew the doors off a Plymouth Horizon America that was just asking for it!

Bitter?!? Who.....where....??? hehehe

Uhmm...my 4 cyl has duel mufflers.
I want neon under the dash....
I want to put neon against the firewall so the engine glows blue when an underbody light kit is turned on....

I´ve actually gotten a RiceCop Warning before in my school parking lot a year ago. But anyone can call my car rice....that´s fine. Just remember

...and that Ricecop warning was probably put there by the guy riding as passenger in his pal´s mom´s 4-door Grand Am with a tired Quad-4, primered quarter panel and a ´´100% Bitch" steering wheel cover.

oh man this one is GREAT:
<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%>
Quote:

You put your automatic car in neutral at every stoplight in order to roll it back and try to fool other people into thinking you have a manual transmission

I think I´m guilty of purposely rolling around at the stop lights just to show off that I´m one of the few persons to drive a manual escort wagon

no JWR I wasn´t knocking your SVT because all the mods you plan actually make the car look good and it´s within taste and reason. Although, the only thing I´d change about your SVT is the black wing. it´s too big. If you put a stock 3 piece spoiler on it, it´ll make the car look about 10 times better. But I don´t care, put what you want on your car just know I´d be shaking my head in disbelief if i saw it on the road.

If I hear you´re "tuning" your escort I´d be led to believe you´re actually doing something to make it faster, not LOOK faster. I´d rather get the engine done up first so I can kill Hondas, before I make my car look like it wants to kill Honda´s.

Kanji is one of 4 forms of written characters in Japanese. Kanji are characters that are part of the original form of Japanese that doesn´t support foreign langauge. Each Kanji character is a pictographic representation of a thought, concept, or emotion.

The guy that gave to me was a friend of mine. He eventually moved in with me and became a roomate. His car is here: http://geocities.com/evilenv/auto/honda.html

You know I am getting confused with everything that is considered ricy anymore. I saw a camaro today that had a body kit and dual flowmasters, now does that make that ricy???? I guess my scorts ricey cause i got the exhaust, intake neon, and clear corners. Someone explain what riced out is anymore. It sounds like anything you do is riced out.
Oh yeah siragon, I am guilty of that my self somtimes.
But i must say i read the site and i just about peed my pants, cause I know at least one kid that has done or said those things on that list. Actually most of them are done by my girlfriends brother .

Yeah, I saw a scort yesterday, probably the first with any mods I noticed around here. It had clear corners, a 3pc GT spoiler, aloys, and a muffler with a big tip. Oh, and where it used to say ´ESCORT LX´ it just said ´Escort´ and there was a chrome GT-R emblem stuck on the back, and some kinda Japanese characters on the rear quarter panel. Riced?

It might of actually been nice, but it was a black LX automatic, it was banged-up, filthy, and it looked like the owner lived in it.

That´s IT!!! A Japanese character decal that, when translated, means "rice" !!
Think I could find a market for that??

I thought about putting the japanese characters for "Powered by Mazda" on my EGT, but I was pretty sure I would get some sort of Rice-Hater that would go off on how I have a domestic with japanese characters on it (Geezzz to think it might be powered by a import motor...hmmm
)

Yeah, My car is classic rice...I guess. Personally I always feel the difference between "Rice" and "Tuner" is the ability and set up of the car. Por Ejemplo: 99 Civic EX,

*lowered...but the suspension is stiffened for the road (not cut springs and stuff) --- I vote : Tuned

*Rims: Went wider for stability and drivability, maybe bigger to get bigger brakes --- I vote: Tuned

*Bodykit, graphics, colored tint, etc.: Personal Taste in appeal -- I vote : Ricey (however its still personal taste)

*Big Wing: HaHaHa.... Ricey! --However I must admit my old roommate had a wing that was a little big, but his point was high speed stability (it worked), and shock appeal. So it was there to get noticed not because he felt he car wouldn´t work without it. Still...some credit.

*Use of gauges and electronics: Most times its for looks, but can definately be for a purpose of tuning -- I vote: Tuned

*Exhaust, Intake, Pulley´s -- There is a point of power to be found --- Tuned.

*Cheap "something for nothing" gimics of power -- RICE!!

*N2O, Forced Induction --- ahhh... I would say Tuned.

I guess if you take a stock 130hp car (like a V6 95 Mustang or something close) and put a "Supercharged" badge on it with hordes of other company graphics on it, and a Tanabe-´like´ muffler on it it would be BEYOND Rice.

But, if you took the same car, Swapped in a built 351 running higher compression, maybe with roller cams or some other trick stuff and left the outside stock except for a "It Breaks Loose, When Its On The Juice" sticker...I would call it a Tuned car.

I figure it like this-
I´ve got a budget-beater US car with a Mazda motor, which tells me it was confused before it ever left the plant.
So my add-ons are a mix of both as well.
I´ve always felt that your car is whatever rests under the hood. So, if it´s got a Jap motor, it´s a jap car- and that´s ´rice´. And normally- I despise foreign cars.
But my 119k mile $100 LX was bought spontaneously, just for giggles...and that´s how it´s being treated.
Half the mods I´ve picked are purely because I hate them. The point of this car was to poke fun at the whole ´more-lights-makes-it-faster´ nit wits.
I don´t have any illusions that I can cheaply build a 1.9L to take on a VTEC-powered anything. So I´m gleefully resigned to just slapping on the silly stuff and annoying others that do the same, as well as my fiance who refuses to get in it!

Her loss!

I can see my car is gonna annoy both the ricers AND the muscle-car folks. Cool...just the way I like it!

Hey JWR, the 1.9L´s not a "Jap motor", it was designed and manufactured by Ford in the US. The 1.8L GT engine is a Mazda tho.
Btw the 2g Escort platform was "engineered by Mazda to Ford specifications" to be a car of "World-class quality" to compete ´"in a global market." (I quote Ford) So i guess those that consider the scort Japanese are just as right as those who consider it American, in a way.
Anyway I applaud your sense of humor, and that you´re not just joking about it but are actually doing it!
