Note although these are the specs given by Ford, due to the lack of A/C and PS the Pony unofficially produces approx. 8-11hp more than a A/C and PS equipped LX.

Anyone want to guess on my scort

Running 12psi...

mathematically it should be around 245hp 200lbs

I'm guessing its actually 220hp and 180lbs though.

200hp180trq at the wheels if you are seeing 12psi of nice cool air. cause you got those nice ol' N/A 9:1 pistons to help it out a bit too.

'85 GT

Hi,

Check out escortfocus.com - it has a lot of the history and the different engines for different years. I think if you have an '85 GT it must be a 1.6L turbo that made 120 hp. It doesn't list the torque, though. I'll keep looking, though. The 1.9L engine was available in '85, but I don't think it was in the GT,

Hi,

Edmunds clarifies the models...the Escort was redesigned midway through '85. The 1st half of the year the GT had the 1.6L turbo (120hp) the 1985 1/2 GT had a 1.9L that was only 108 hp,

All the specs are the same for Tracers of the same years (91-99).

Yeah. :p They don't really have anything diffrent except for maybe leather seats and power windows. Saw one of the third gens with a sunroof, I think, once. Just added weight. :)

The ZX2 specs are still not quite right. The max HP RPM should be 5750 not 5570. Also note the year changes. Only the 2003 ZX2s got the torque increase. They should be:

98-02/ZX2
2.0L; ZETEC DOHC
[email protected]
127ft [email protected]

03/ZX2
2.0L; ZETEC DOHC
[email protected]
135ft [email protected]

Also, with the 98 models and half the 99s, I quote from: http://members.rogers.com/johnbroughton705/

One bad thing that the 98 has is the stock computer code that came with the car, the dreaded MTAx (x = could be 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8),
but not to worry because is fixable by the dealer and they will upgrade you to YWZ0 code. With this code, Dyno proven, you will
get the 130 HP and the 127 TQ that the car was sold with, because the older code will not.

He didn't provide any dyno results on how the bad code performed, but I thought this was a bit interesting and worth bringing up.

Does anyone have any clue what Ford did to increase the torque between the '02 and '03 model years for ZX2s? I have been looking everywhere and no one seems to know. It is probably a bunch of things, but it would be interesting to see what exactly. It might just be a small change that the 98-02 ZX2 owners could do on their own and get a quick torque boost.

o. O this is my field:

all stock zx2's hp and torq ratings are the same, ford decided to edit there number's through out the yrs, nothing changed in/on them.

the 98's were a good yr and dyno'd better then the 99's +
mta4...5 and so on we're awesome code's whoever you got your info from ...must of had a bad write or something...

also add the zx2 s/r (99 and 00 only)

depending comp code (some had emissions)
148hp
145 torq

unofficially, the base/pony models with no options would dyno a higher hp/tq number than a fully equipped LX with the same engine.

accelerometer tests have shown an 8-11hp increase by eliminating all but the alternator on a 1.9 SEFI.
