Removal, Bumper Cover - Front, Sedan, Third Gen
1. Remove the lower front bumper cover screw from the bottom of each side of the front bumper cover.
2. From the front wheel openings remove the four screws and one push pin which secure the front fender splash shield. Pull back the front fender splash shield to access the concealed bolts.
3. Remove the two concealed bolts from the front of each left and right wheel opening which connect the front fender to the front bumper cover. (See photos below.)
4. From each wheel opening, remove the screw which connects the front bumper to the fender. (See photo below.)
5. Remove the two upper front bumper cover bolts and one plastic fastener from the top of the front bumper cover.
6. Remove the front bumper cover.
The original hidden bolts were very rusted. The nuts turned inside the plastic nut plates and were destroyed in the process of removing the bolts. I recommend using stainless steel replacement bolts.
If the replacement hidden bolt is shorter than the old factory one it can help to place nuts inside the socket to extend the bolt for better reach into the bumper cover nut. The factory bolts were special ones with a locator pin on the end to help guide the bolt into the nut. My supply of SS M6-16 bolts were only about 1" long.
