Wow look at how the senior FEOA members are treated. One person thinks Marclar should be fertilizing daisies and another thinks McPh3rson should be committed to a sanitarium over his employment decision.

    Who's FCA?

    Oh.

Taking apart half the car for even simple maintenance items seems to be the going standard now... though there is such a thing as ridiculous.

Did you mean sympathy vs pity ?

im sure the diplomat was melted down and is part of the pieces these new Chrysler vehicles are made of.

fca definitely has its challenges.. and its major warranty claims. but put it this way. even tho i missed 4 months of work last year from a broken ankle, i still made 4x as much as i did at my best year at honda.

Ha, I guess that makes sense - more $$ in working for a manufacturer of unreliable vehicles.

The only issue is that you get paid less to do warranty repairs than you would to do the same repair outside of warranty.

I currently own 3 2nd gen escorts/Tracer. One is a maroon 93 escort wagon that we have owned brand new since sept-92, a red 93 escort gt that I bought 2 years ago that happens to be Chdrummerdude's old gt, and a sunrise red pearl 95 mercury tracer trio wagon but have owned 7 escorts in all

I should cross the 239K mile mark in my 1995LX a few days.

Yes. And I bought the car new. BTW, 239K is not a record here for an automatic transmission.

Around here it seems like they generally give up the ghost well before 90 or 110k. Lot of hills and stupidly timed traffic lights don't help.

Wow! Great to see this forum still active and some of the OG's still post.

I haven't owned an escort in God knows how long but enjoyed the hell out the ones I had. I found the forum on Tapatalk and figured I would check in and see how the escort scene was doing. Lots of good times here back in the day!

I have learned an enormous amount from the Escort forums - even though I had already done a lot of DIY mechanical stiff in my life.

So true. The other thing is that in relative terms, this forum is actually pretty active. By that I mean considering how long it's been since the last Escort was made, we still get a lot of activity here.

drove my 93 Pony 3k miles a couple of months ago to retrieve some boat parts. And yesterday went up n MO about 50 miles and back. I don't know how many miles it has cause the speedo was broken then changed. but she still just keeps chugging along.
Does anybody know what makes an escort pony a pony? It it the no PS, No AC, 5speed, 13 inch wheels or what? is there a code in the vin?

I have this Factory service manual that says the 1st 2 digits in the vin number (positions 6 &7) is the body type, but in the chart the series is blank, but it gives the body code as py3. When ordering parts the parts houses refer to it as "base"
