182.5k miles, due for another oil change this week.
Runs good, has some issues with idle air control, throttle position sensor, and a shitton of vacuum leaks. Not sure how much life the transmission has in it, but I suspect its not a whole lot. Otherwise running strong.

Mind the crappy plasti-dip job. Did the spoiler as well, black looks nice from afar.
(Quarterpanel damage was from sideswiping a deer. Took out the headlight too. Will eventually take the panel off and try to push the dent out)

Have you tried using a bathroom plunger to pull the dents out?

Would it have the suction for that?

If the metal isn't creased too badly I've been able to pop out dents using a plunger lots of times.

Interesting. I didn't think they'd have the grabbing power.

I didn't even think of a plunger, well I did but in the form of a GPS suctioncup, which, tried its hardest but couldn't pull it out. Will try the plunger remedy. That poor deer smacked its neck across the qtr panel and light, so the metal isnt bent badly but in different angles, very uneven surface.

A friend car is going to the scrape yard soon. Ford Escort wagon 1997.
    It has 328000km / 204k miles.

It still runs fine but the exhaust is dead (rust) and there is a recent issue with the rear right suspension and other not so minor issues (impossible to lock the front passenger door).

Considering the amount of maintenance the owner did in the past 2 years (absolutely 0), this car is a miracle. He paid 500$ for it two years ago so maintenance was not cost effective. He just did two (only two) oil changes in more than 100kkm (62kmi) (I don't agree with that but it's his car), the fluids all look bad, but it still runs fine... amazing.

My dad said he's around 205k on mine (now his).

He runs it constantly. Loves it.

Wow...Lowest I've ever seen an Escort in person is 90k...mine has ~160k. Are you the original owner?

Yes, I'm the original owner. Bought it new off the lot in Feb. 98. The reason it's so low mileage is because I've had and used several other cars for daily drivers since I bought it. I've probably put about 400-450K miles on other cars during this time and have basically used the '97 wagon when making trips of 500+ miles. When I bought the '97 my '88 Pony had around 250K miles and now has well over 500K, I also had an '02 Escort SE for a few years that received several thousand miles before I sold it to my son. We still have another '88 Escort GL, and '94 Escort LX we use for daily drivers now. I may actually own one of each, one of the highest and one of the lowest mileage Escorts left on earth.

Wow. That's pretty awesome. 500k miles on a car...how many times have you had to rebuild that engine?

Never had the head off of it, and still has compression numbers in the 145-155 psi range across all cylinders. All this from just keeping the oil changed regularly and not dogging it continuously. Before I injured my back I worked construction, the '88 Pony was my work truck. It got 40+ MPG, so when gas was $4. a gallon, between work and other driving sometimes having to drive up to 200-250 miles a day it was a real money saver. At one time I was on a job that consisted of about 125 miles a day to and from work. Even driving 80-95 MPH on the interstate it would consistently get 42-45 MPG. A few times when I drove it on long road trips I'd drive the trip at 55 MPH just to see how good of gas mileage I could squeeze out of it. I remember breaking 50MPG at least 2 times over the years and if I recall correctly one time it was over 54MPG.

I've used a plunger to pull 2 mild dents on my vehicle; works great, just make sure the plunger is wet for better suction

Another milestone today! Haven't had any new problems since the 315K report. I installed the third battery the other day. Next month will complete 18 years with this car - continues to amaze me. IMG_3714.JPG
