On my 96 escort the driver side rear drum is seized. It won't turn at all and yes the parking brake is released. What would cause the shoe to get seized into the drum? I'm guessing maybe the parking brake cable ? But it works well. How do I get this seized drum off?

Did you try putting the appropriate sized bolts into the threads specifically designed for removing the drums?

Do what they all said, but it could also be the little e-brake lever inside the drum. It likes to seeze in place if the car sit's unused for a long time. I had that happen a few times. Just remove the lever and spray it down with Wd-40 and work it loose.

+1, I have had to do this on a few different scorts that I have owned... or scorts friends have owned
