There's a pointer inside the cam sprocket that aligns with a tick mark on the head, there are two slots on the harmonic balance, one about 1/8" wide and one about 1/2" wide, the narrow mark on the harmonic balance aligns with the highest point on the timing scale molded into the timing belt cover.

OK so there is another problem. The water pump is shot. The gear is loose. How much time and effort is it to replace it? And are there any links that will show how to do it?

If you are replacing the timing belt, always replace the water pump and tensioner with it. Pick up a Haynes manual if you can't find a Ford one

Wouldn't have been able to get a manual for a few days. Was able to figure it out. Not too hard just not a lot of room to work with. Car starts right up and is running good. Thanks guys
