I'm sorry if some of you have already seen this, but I recently found pictures of the 2003 ZX2nr by accident and was blown away by how awesome it looks compared to the regular ZX2s and Ford Escorts. I can't believe Ford never went through with this concept. I did a little writeup on it if anyone wants to read:

Simply stunning!!!! If I get a ZX2 for my third Ford Escort, I'm definitely getting an 03 and attempting to modify the body style in similar ways to that concept car. I'm hooked!

Maybe almost 8 years behind, but that thing even puts the new Ford Focus design that's going to be released in Europe to shame.

Good god that's sexy.

I thought the S/Rs had a sharp looking front end, that car looks good all the way around. With the intake/exhaust and cam what kind of numbers would it have put down?

Lol should have read my article, it has all the info I could find on it from a magazine article that was once published about it. Only about mid 140s, what can you expect from boltons :p. But it had some nice suspension upgrades too, and I believe the S/Rs came with fidanza aluminum flywheels and centerforce clutches too (haha same exact combo I put in mine before I wrecked it).

Oh and if anyone wants to see another amazing Ford Escort, though I didn't include it here because it's not an American one, there's the greatest looking Cosworth I've ever seen:



Raw power and nothing else.

if I ever got a zx2 it would HAVE to be an 03. They look the best IMO.

The biggest thing that always bugged me was how the 4 door looks better from the rear but the 03 ZX2 looks better from the front. I might just have to try putting an 03 front on a 4 door. Though I'm not sure where I'd find it, may as well just buy the dman 03 ZX2 and then I won't have the rear doors to deal with or the extra 4 inches in overall car length. But I'm still kind of curious what I can push out of the CVH based SPI, it's just so hard to let go.

That car does look perfect, Ford should bring back the Escort, and begin with something like that.

If Ford does that I bet they will compete with the japanese car market real good. And even be the first to have an American car look JDM even if it is USDM.

I think the only thing wrong with that zx2 up there is that the rims are too "vip" style.

I bet if ford made that zx2 it would of been a hot seller. that thing is sexy. I want to paint my tracer that color orange lol

Lol yeah, I'd do anything to get it. And I agree, the rims are pretty lame. Isn't there some way we can make ford bring it back? The only thing I can think of is petitions, but those things never accomplish anything anyways. Perhaps a false website advertising it and a pre-registration for it's production? It would piss off a lot of people that it's fake, and Ford would almost kind of be obligated to do something about it. But then, I don't want a lawsuit either heh.

Also, if I had a choice though between the ZX2nr or that all out race Cosworth though I'd still take the Cosworth. I can't believe nobody has said anything about that picture yet.

The cosworth is nice but id rather have a nice daily driver like the zx2nr, not something i can only drive on the track.

where did this number come from? my owners manual says that the Z is actually longer than the sedan by about a half inch.

I'm not sure, I read it somewhere at one point. I'll have to dig around on the net again. It made sense to me though at the time of reading it so I guess that's why it stuck. Now you really got me curious.

Thanks for sharing that, I'll enter it into MechDB too :). That's nice that the coupe is an inch shorter though! Does it specify their weight as well? I'd love to enter that in as well.
