Just as I'm getting my other 98 ZX2 in decent running shape, I pickup another one..
I just got a 2002 ZX2 with a bad ATX. This car may end up being my girlfriend's 17 year old daughter's first car. I only paid $200, so I can do some things to it. I have a transmission located. The body isn't too bad, needs a rear bumper cover, driver's mirror and a headlight (water in it).

I'll post some pics soon....

Got the transmission installed and it's perfect. Now just need to do a timing belt, radiator, thermostat housing, rear brakes and parking cables.
This is a weird one to me, it has rear drums and ABS.

Pulled the front bumper to change the headlights and found that it had been wrecked on the left side. Looks like 3 hours labor on a frame rack to get it straight....

Finally got it emissions tested, passed with no problem. Got a decent silver rear bumper, so now it looks decent. Now all the mechanical stuff (timing belt, radiator, water outlet, struts and upper oil pan gasket)...

Starting on the mechanical. Have the upper oil pan pulled, just need to get it (and a few other parts cleaned). Learned that doing the oil pan on an ATX is a pain compared to the MTX. You have to pull the right axle to get the pan out....

Now that I have the oil leaks sealed up (upper oil pan and sending unit) I have done the timing belt. Also replaced the radiator (leaking) condenser (fins are flat) and changed the leaking water outlet to a 98 style.
Now it's time to do struts, ball joints and an alignment. Hope to get this to my lady's daughter soon...

The 02 has a new driver..... She is very happy to have a car now. I drove the car for 2 weeks before she got it, so hopefully there should be no problems...

I've seen ABS only on sedans with 4 wheel discs (I used parts from one to convert my Blue 98 ZX2)... Never had one with ABS until now.

This is a 99 tracer with front discs and rear drums. It has abs

I think the tracers received all the abs systems and such

Starting on another.... Just go a 99 Sport last week with the upper timing belt idler bolt broken. Put a timing belt on and drilled out the broken bolt, runs good.

Now the rest of the work begins...

Still working on the 99, but.... I just picked up an 01. The previous owner listed it as the serpentine belt broke and cut the coolant and electrical lines... The problem was that the shop that replaced the timing belt left the water pump pulley bolts loose (2 missing and 1 in by 3 threads). I couldn't pass it up for $250

Finally got to work on the 01. Had to replace the bent water pump pulley and belt. It runs and drives good.

Got the upper oil pan resealed on the 99. Rebuilt the cooling system (radiator, thermostat, water pump and radiator hoses). still have some work to do...

Been a while since I posted... Still working on a move from Thornton CO to Aurora CO (about 30 miles). It's amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in 18 years.

The latest stuff around here is yet another ZX2 has followed me home. I bought it to take the tires, hood, front bumper and driver's seat for my other cars. I'll put my old parts back on it a sell it. It's an 01 base (no A/C) that was wrecked in the right rear.

Right now the fleet is 2-98's, 2-99's, 2-01's and an 02.... Still working on the Toredor Red 98, hope to get the rear disc conversion done soon.

Just about have the Dark Denim Blue 99 finished and hope to get the grey 01's heater box replaced soon.

Here's the latest updates...
I completed the 99 Sport and the GF's daughter is driving it now. No mods done to it except for an armrest and removing the premium sound..
The Silver 02 has been sold.... The Grey 01 now has a new heater box and tires. Need to reseal the oil pan and exhaust manifold, the it's for sale... The Toreador Red 01 is still around, really need to just sell it... The Bright Red 99 parts car is still here, buried under boxes in the garage..
Have a new project, will post about that in another post...
