Hi there:

A/C stopped working on my 95 Escort GT. It was working fine before I off the car at the gas station. No AC at all after restart. AC light works, I checked the pulley and it does turn when i switch on the AC. A mechanic say both the clutch and compressor is bad, but still full of refridgerant. I kind of doubt what he say. Any idea? BTW, where is the relay if I want to check it?

Is it just the ac or the blower as well?

Well If your clutch is engaging and turrning the pully there is no point in checking the realy, because it obviously works. When you say your A/C doesn´t work what exactly do you mean?? There are a lot of symptoms that make people say their A/C doesn´t work. Is it just not cold any more? Does it blow air or not? Give me the specifics, and I might be able to narrow it down for you.

Hi there:

Well... there´s simply no cold air anymore.... relay should be good as the center of the ac clutch will turn if i turn AC on.... as for the ac clutch... it should still be ok unless there´s a way for it to turn without actually turning the compressor.... correct me if I´m wrong..

but does the fan move air through the vent?does the idle drop when you turn on the ac?

The fan still works... really blows some warm air around... =)

and idle doesn´t drop when i turn it on....pulley spin though

If the idle is not affected there is a good chance that the compressor is toast.when you turn on the ac the alt has to work harder as well as the compression of the piston in the compressor. these two things will usually make a noticeable difference in the idle.
