I recently bought some 17'' FINN race rims: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=38662

The same guy had another auction going on for $399 with JUST the rims, no tires. Being poor, I placed a bid and won. The rims are currnetly sitting in my basement in their boxes, because I don't know what tires to get.

I found these on ebay also: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=42614

I don't know what to do... They're the right price, but I don't know if they are crap or not. The guy at belle tire said he could do 4 new lo-pro tires on my rims (The cheapest tires he had) for 380, mounted, balanced, and all that good stuff. If I bought these tires (I know the auction has ended, but he has many other auctions for the same tires for the same price ) then in would only cost about 300-315 bux total (15 bux a wheel for mounting, balancing, ect, and the shipping on the 4 tires).

My main questions... first, are those tires crap, or no? Second, would it be worth it to save the 80 or so bux and buy these off the internet, or just get them from a tire place around here (Belle tire, discount tire co, ect.)?

Thanks for the help.

Asking if tires are crap is like asking if blondes are hotter than brunettes. (yes) go to your local tre shop and a set of tires that will have the same or slightly less overall height of the stockers. with the 205s you will need to check the backspacing of the wheel to see if 205 will fit on your car. this is where the tire shop comes in. They want to sell you tires. they will work with you to find the right ones - if not, find another shop.

Escort93GT, like birddog said make sure you have enough space between your rear fender and the tire, I have on mine 215/40R16 Yokohama and they sometimes rub on the outer part of my fender because they are so wide

my first impression is that the Wanli is JUNK. The tread design mimics that og the Yokohama AVS Sport, but the research/developmet is not on the same level!

A coworker of mine just bought a set from these guys for his lowered Altima (215/15R17), he can spin them going into 2nd gear at a mere 2500-3500 RPM! And no, it's not some turboed, high powered Altima (stock engine with a cone intake).

Yeah, tread pattern isn't everthing. Composition of the tire is now more important - at least for high performance applications. Always look for reviews and talk to people who have actually used the product. Preferably someone who didn't just put them on the car then drive 20mph to work in the city every day. That being said yo still have hundreds of tires to choose from and there are many competant performers. A lot of the time it just takes experimentation to findthe tire that works with your setup.
