so i go to turn on my car as usual, starts up purring like normal, and by now my windows are starting to fog up from breathing. so i give the fan switch a flick to 2...and nothing happens. tried to adjust the nobs just to see if it was some freak lag connection, but still no go. my blower fan won´t turn on. simple problem, not so simple solution???

i´m not sure if there´s a fuse to check directly for the heater blower, i looked and there was only a 30a fuse for ´heater´, but i couldn´t even find exactly where that was under the dash. plus the fact that it´s a good -25C or so out means that i could only work for a few minutes at a time without my hands losing function cuz i´m working outside cuz my garage is full

moral of the story, i can´t drive my car until i get this fixed or i get some infrared vision to see through the fogged up windshield. anyone know any problem that i could easily check and/or fix? and where´s the fuse for this heater blower / heater?

until then i gotta find some other way to get to work

i had a similar prob with mine i tore it all apart got the new blower,went to put it in and found that the plug on the bottom of the unit ,i think its a 3 prong plug, but anyway the one wire was burnt and not making a good connection so after all that i put a new piece of wire in and it was fine. i would say if the fuse is ok and u cant see any broken wires unplug the motor get a wire light tester and tturn the switch on and test for power,if u have power then go buy a blower motor (u can always take it back if thats not the problem),just pull ur old one out (watch cuz some parts are gonna fall out,gasket,etc,) unplug it ,plug in the new one and see if it works before u install it completly.

I think it´s above the fuse box in the car next to your feet.

i´ve concluded that it´s not actually referring to a 30amp fuse, but rather a 30a circuit breaker. either way, i don´t think it´s the problem, it´s not blown, so it´s something more deep, and i don´t have a warm garage to fix it in time for work, so i gotta take it in

ah well, c´est la vie... i´m guessing it´ll be about $200, rough estimate with taxes and labour, hopefully it´ll be closer to $50 or so (in cdn btw, so you american folk don´t think i´m going nuts over estimating

)

i think ur crazy for takin it to a shop.its very easy to work on and you will save alot of cabbage doin it your self,i realize its colder than a witches tit but it wont take u very long to do everything i told you earlier,maybe an hour or so. just some friendly advice now git ur long johns on and fix that heat

i just don´t have the hour unfortunatly, and it really is too cold. -30 is like frostbite in 3 minutes or something like that, and who can work with mitts on in the dark? i´m pissed that i had to resort to taking it in, but i have no other choice

at least i´ll know what to fix for a next time

hey jug the heater is a RELAY on the side of the fuse panel 30a.
i know how you feel about workin i the cold, take a jumper source(12v batt) to the motor to check for operation. ive had escorts comin my shop with blown CONTROL SWITCHES all the time.

Sorry to add insult to injury Jugg, but I gotta say this. Thank God for the Desert. I worked on my sister in laws truck all day today in a t-shirt, and jeans. I put a light jacket on when the sun started setting though. I couldn´t live in a place where temp has to be measuered with a minus sign. I don´t know how you guys do it.

Try checking the blower motor resistor. when it´s not working correctly the blower might not work at some speeds. If it´s the cause of your problem then your in luck, it´s very inexpensive.

it turned out that it was a blown motor actually, but iz all good now.
