You have a good idea, I'm not real sure though, but I think that the Cam sensor and Crank sensor would disagree too much with that set up. I think your best bet would be just getting a MegaSquirt, which are getting relatively cheap anymore.

Now you'll have to assemble it, but it's $139-$145, and you'll be able to tune more than just timing.

Ok I see, that changes things. Yeah you won't need to worry about the Cam sensor at all. To get your degree for each tooth, count all the teeth including the missing one. Take 360 and divide it by the number of teeth (360/# of teeth) that will give you the degree of each tooth. I'm pretty unfamiliar with the MegaJolt, but won't it have a programable timing map? pretty much eliminating the need of mechanically advancing it?

Hey that's always something to look at. I guess we tune scorts so we're different anyways :)
