Actually, i had my car in for lab (i go to an automotive tech. school) and pulled the timing cover back . It wasn´t until we brought #1 cyl. up to tdc, that i realized the marks weren´t lined up, the rear(1.8 dohc 96´) cam was tilted two teeth back as opposed to the forward most cam. Yes its fun and the v-tech guys accuse me of running nos, but nothing but a loose timing belt. Im not saying everyone should do this as a benefit, it was just a + due to having a worn out belt!!!!!

So basically you´ve "accidently" retarded your intake cam timing, thereby leaving the intake valves open a split second longer...hey...hmmm.... you know what? that´s basically what VTEC does...hehe except it uses different lobes on the camshafts to keep the valves open longer.
I´m not sure if thats good for your car...and I KNOW that having missing teeth on your timing belt isn´t good.

Thus i don´t condone this as benefitting. One day i revved it out to like 7200 rpm, and after that i was wondering what i did, cause this freakin thing pulls like 93 cobra (REALLY!!). As i said before and ill say it again, This is not a performance mod, if you do go and intentionally do this, i am not at fault for your neglegence, just mine.

Come over to fort wayne this weekend, I wanna see this scort in action. It´ll only be about a 6 or so hour drive, depending on how close to the Indiana border you are Holeshot

I dunno, I don´t think anything bad could really happen by leaving it like that...but I do think you should replace your timing belt asap.
