I have a 94 escort, 94,000 miles. It has just started to become hard to shift, ie. hard to get into 1st then when shifting to 2nd it grinds for a second, then hard to get into 3rd and so on. To get into the gears I have been letting out the clutch while adding gas and pushing the shifter into gear. This works but it reminds me of shifting without using the clutch at all. Also, when still, pushing the clutch in and out the RPM fluctuates and ther is a clunking sound. The clutch does not seem to be slipping. Any suggestions? Need help! :?

It's most likely your pressure plate.
Replace the clutch with it. and the throwout bearing. and have the flywheel resurfaced. and check your fluid. and replace it before you wear out all of your syncros and need a full transaxle rebuild... and.. :)
