does anybody know how much gude wants for their...
throttle body=?
racing package=?
cams=?

any suggestions will be helpfull...im trying to make my gt an all motor right now i have 90-93accord intake,custom catback with a high flow cat,pacesetter header(biggest waste of [email protected]!),and no ac....im running a 16.0 with it now....i want 2 run 14s with it or better

I contacted Gude once for the pricing of all the Escort parts for a 2nd Gen GT... I'll look for the sheet he sent me and Put it up here. it was well over $1200 for the racing package, but the headers alone (WHICH ARE STILL AVAILABLE ACCORDING TO GUDE) Run about $600. In My opinion go with a setup like Stealthstyle reccommended or build up a GTX engine... like System said $2K usually gets you a GTX engine.

Yea I would definately go the GTX route, if I didnt live in Cali. I'm not sure I'd enjoy swapping engines back and forth every time i got pulled over for exhaust and sent to a smog ref.

At least with the setup I listed, it can look stock it you do it right. Throw in a standalone and you can pass smog easy.

And thats one helluva expensive header, corksport has the genie for 254

Okay, I found the pricelist for the Cams and Throttle body.

Info is in this order:

Engine Model / Type of Cam / Cost / Normal Core

ZTEC HYD DOHC 2.0 / RE PROFILED CAMS / $370.00 / $370.00
ESCORT GT BP 1.8 / BILLET CAMS / $640.00 / NA.
SOHC ESCORT / RE PROFILED CAM / $295.00 / $138.00

Throttle Bodies:

Bored out = $292 / Most Core = $250 (I assume that means that most cores charges are $250... doesn't say what the Scort one is)

ECU re-progamming:

Cost = $320 Most Core = $250

EDIT: ALL PRICES ARE AMERICNA DOLLARS (just to avoid any confusion for our Canadian buddies)


Unfortunately that's the only Price list that I still have. I can't find the one thta has the head packages and the racing package prices, but both are VERY Pricey.

StealthStyle - Is the GTX engine not emmisions legal here? I remember hearing that it might not pass with the turbo, but is there anyway around that?

yes i believe corksport sells cams for like 450 bucks or somethin like that... im not sure if they are better suited for na or forced. if you go all out weight reduction, get rid of ps (completely lines, pump rack and pinion...) no ac (again complete removal) then coupled with a gutted interior and perfect run you could be low 15s on a stock bp motor.

$1600 all u need to do is go to j/y pull a core cyl head intake manifold and tb
just ship it to them in one part dont take it apart they p&p the head they port the intake manifold and port the tb and u get a cam i talked to a guy that worked there he said its a 45whp gain

so, since taking into consideration the average 15% drivetrain power loss, you would bump your whp from around 108--->153 this, if you do a reverse calculation, you figure the same 15% loss, is the equivalent to 179.916666666666 horsepower at the crank. sound plausible? all on a porting job plus cam?

Haha, thats awesome, but dont you have to get the smog check in the same county you live in?

Besides, the problem with the gtx is if you get pulled over and they end up sending you to see a smog referee

these are the big hangups with the GTX motor swaps:
1. Must be from a newer year vehicle
2. Must be california certified (in other words have all the special smog stuff for cali).

So as you can see a JDM would not fit either of those categories.

And I dont see a head job plus cam making 45 whp over stock, maybe if your cam makes peak power at 7000 rpm, and even then I dont see it happening. Maybe he was referring to a larger displacement motor.

640 for a set of cams is not half bad at all... whats the specs on those cams compared to stock specs?

That TB bore over price is absolutely rediculous though, I could get my b16 TB (60mm) bored to over 67 mm for 100 smackaroos.
