Hello:

According to my web search
the size of the stock wheels on GT 91-96 and ZX2
is: 15" x 5.5" , 45 mm offset.

1. Could anyone confirm this data since they do not come from any official Ford site?

2. What is the tolerance regarding the offset?
If the tolerance was big then maybe we could solve many wheel/tire rubbing problems by choosing appropriate offset for aftermarket wheels?

Thank you,

Rob.

15" x 5.5" :p

The way most people run it is no more than a 42mm offset on a 205 series tire on a 17" rim.

BUT... it is possible to fully tuck a 19" rim with the perfect offset....I just don't know what that offset is and what tire profile went with it. :(
You also need to have air ride or you will not be able to turn.....lol

Quick! Someone write this down -
*****I for once agree with James, I am 99% certain they are 6.5's!*****

Yes, I know who would have thought. But really a 185 is a 7.28 inch wide tire. No engineer in their right mind would put a 7.28 inch tire on a 5.5 inch rim.

Transwheel

Hello:

Thank you for the responses.

The transwheel company makes exact replicas
of stock wheels.

Please check the online catalog at: www.transwheel.com
and ford escort stock wheels.

You will see there is nothing like 15x6.5?

I know how to solve this one - tonight I will measure the wheel on my zx2. Then if it is 5.5 it serves me right for agreeing with James (j/k)!!! The offset I don't really know for sure.

What's going on guys, i think i'm having the same problem with regards to my tires rubbing on the outer part of my fender.
I have 215/40R16 on some 16x7 rims. So if i change my tire size to 205/45R16 do you think it would stop rubbing when i take sharp turns? 8)

Ok...I have a set of GT rims in my basement right now........

They have 15x5.5 stamped right in the back side of one of the spokes.

So...ummm.....I win

As for offset......I need to find my tape measure..........

Yup, that's right. I have a set of 93 GT rims out in my garage too. right on one of the spokes it's stamped right there: "15x 5 1/2"

But unless Blade lied to me, (which I doubt he did) it's a 38 mm offset on the GTs.
