Okay, so I picked up my Escort from Fritts Ford today and I have major issues. Firstly I noticed that the Seatbelts are not working (i.e. they are not moving back, as I have the automated ones) secondly the Tach is not working, My temperature gauge is reading the engine running extremely hot, and lastly the turn signals aren't working, but the lights work for the alarm...

I am pissed because the dealer didn't find the source during their "Complete Diagnostic" they only noted that the tach wasn't working and the temp guage was being odd... and then when I asked why it wasn't working they said it must have broken while sitting around at school. That explanation just doesn't "sit" with me though...

Anyone have any clues as to what they may have messed up while changing a Timing belt, Fuel Filter and doing a fuel system service that may have caused these troubles?

Thanks in advance.... I just hope that I can get this all fixed quickly and painlessly, this car is starting to dig me a very early grave.

In my experience with the 5 escorts I've owned, gauge problems usually have to do with the gauges themselves. The stock gauges really aren't that ...how you say... "quality".

Your best bet is to run out to the boneyard and grab a new set of temp and tach gauges and see if that does you any good.

Also, when you pull out your gauge cluster, visually inspect it for any burns in the "circuit board" on the backside of it, and of course make sure that everything is plugged in.

Just for reference, the tach reads from the ignition module (located by the coil, I've got a spare one I ripped off my old 91GT if you need it replaced), and the temp of course reads off a sensor in the thermostat housing. All the wiring diagrams are in the back of the haynes manual.
