So I finally got around to fixing my loose muffler that has been rattling at low rpms for the last few months. I went out and put the Escort up on the ramps so I could lay under the car to put a new exhaust clamp on her. I was already pi$$ed off since I had to cut the old clamp off due to rust and getting a hack saw in there wasnt easy or fun. So as my neck was getting sore from laying under the car I finally started tightening the new clamp on there. I made it through the first bolt without any real problems. I started on the second bolt and got it pretty tight but not tight enough. As my dumb self was trying to tighten the damn thing to 400 ft-lbs or something idk what i was thinking, the ****** ratchet slipped off the bolt because i was too lazy to go get a deep well socket that i needed. The next thing i knew i had a 14mm socket and ratchet smaking me in the face with all my force on it. Now I have a nice black eye and swollen nose. I thought for sure i broke my nose at first because SOB that hurt.
Anyone else ever got beat up by an Escort before?

ALL THE TIME! every single time I work on my scort I get a new mark even if it's small, my left pointer finger has about 3 razor blade marks on it oh so does one of my middle fingers, yeah I have fun every time, throttle bodies can be sharp too when scraping the old gasket off, FUN TIMES, not really but you are not alone, escorts are bullies! but when you hammer the snot outta em and drive em hard I guess we got it coming right :p

just don't punch the fender the work to get the dent out is not worth the hit lol, been there DONE that, so I got another fender and then jumped on the old one till it was flat, that was rewarding!

I have had my share of bleeding knuckles, blood blisters, and fingernails that looked ugly till they grew out (or came off). Just today I burnt some of my hair, when torching the rusted end off of the old MacPherson strut. one leg of the spring compressor came loose, the spring smacked my fore-arm, causing the torch to arc across the top of my head.

Guilty as charged  I always get the usual bumps and bruises when working on the scort but this was by far the worst thing the scort has done to me lol. Maybe it was because I dumped the clutch the other day ;)

yeah I feather dumped my clutch today, got a little SCUURP outta her lol, what I get for cleaning my throttle body last night though is the IAC broke ha ha, now I have no idle, thank goodness the 1.8 BP has an air bypass screw so I just put the idle at 800 ha ha! I love my BP so adjustable man.

yeah stuff just happens, I've had ratchets fall and smash me in the face, smashed my elbow on the ground, on the car, course I've had my EGT apart almost ALL the way lol, I like working it over and seeing what all shape everything is in, then I know how hard I can romp on it! lol. I totally killed this lady in her taurus today though, she was full going up this hill and I just 1/2 throttle then tapped into 2nd and moved over lol.

good times in my scort GT, and yes if you've heard it still has a bent rod in it, #2 is slightly bent so it's only 90 PSI of compression, the others are 150 and above dry testing. I got a rod I'ma pop the head off and fix it maybe next week, but it runs fine still and will continue to run fine :D

keep it rollin man

I burnt the valve cover lines in my arm. Didn't realize it was that hot untill I realized my skin was burning. That was a really nasty burn.

yeah now you got a story behind the bruise and it's a good one! but instead of saying it was your escort say it was your alcohol powered funny car that's in the garage HA HA.

keep it rollin dude!

thats why, if you look at the fab pics of the Power Wagon, I ALWAYS have gloves on, and, if you notice, they're pretty damned beat up ;), but, I still have nice soft girly hands under them... well, not really. I have lots of welder spatter burns to make me a manly man. Got one down my leather coat sleeve the other day... that sucked, got a nice burn on the end of my elbow from it.

I don't really like working with gloves on most of the time. They always end up getting caught on stuff and don't fit into small areas as well as bare hands. As for welding the best splatter is when it goes down into your shoes when your not wearing socks  Nothin better than a hot peice of metal burning your foot and you can't do anything about it because by the time you get your shoe off its too late. But i guess thats what i get for welding with shorts and sneakers
