Isabel's gonna kill us all or so the news would have you believe. Just a reminder to play it safe.

I heard where Nags Head is going to see 15-18 foot swells, gonna play havoc with the islands. Shame too 'cus that's my regular vacation spot.

This'll be my fourth, no maybe fifth, hurricane and it always surprises me how wildly different they can behave from one another. So to everyone in it's path, be careful!

goodluck. We got a "Scare" twice now with huricanes coming up the baja. Everyone was running around like idiots like we were going to get nailed... especially being in the darn desert. Well on both cases we barely saw a sprinkle.

:) a few of my friends went out surfing earlier.. we're already seeing 10ft waves/chop

i'm more scared of the flooding... we already have like 30" of extra rain compared to last year and now they're expecting another 8-10". my egt's gonna float away..

Been nice knowing you Tito, heh. Chesterfield is just SW of Richmond so we'll only get some bad rain and wind, the equivalent of a tropical storm. The big problem here is that it's already so wet, that any new rainfall is just going to supersaturate the ground and uproot everything. My driveway is limb-prone so both cars are moving to front/back of the house as close as I can get them. Heck, I could even drive my Escort onto the back deck.

But yes, you all at the beach are going to die. Good luck!

I'll park my escort in my garage located on a small hill at only 30 min away from the northern-eastern US borders.... maybe it will be safer over there....and well..at least the flood wont get there :)

In french we don't say good luck because it will bring bad luck along...so we say merde instead, which means shit...so i say a big SH*T to you all who are located on the eastern coast.....i hope we'll get through this without major damage or losses....

I guess i could invite you all over here for a BBQ :)

be carefull out there...those things can be just a tad dangerous....although to tell you the truth I think I would rather have a few of those a year instead of all these damn tonadoes....at least you can track a hurricane...btw...you may want to get a giant zip lock bag and a good anchor to put inside with your scort....just to keep down on the water damage....lol

I'm back. Still without power/water. We got hit pretty bad, certainly not as rough as those on the coast, but still caught us in a bad way. Power went out at 7pm Thursday and the bulk of the storm hit shortly thereafter. BUNCH of rain. Without power and the clouds it was pitch black outside and all we could hear was the cracks and booms of trees hitting the ground, hitting houses, etc. We came through relatively unscathed. Cosmetic damage to the house, I got two trees in the backyard at 45 degree angles, but because they didn't actually hit the ground, insurance won't cover them. Never mind the fact that when the 1 falls, it'll take out my neighbor's shed. THEN it becomes a covered item. Makes no sense... Other neighbor got 2 trees through the roof and one on their workshop. In the space of almost 5 minutes, we had 13 trees fall around us. I just knew one of the cars would be destroyed by morning.

Here we are on Monday, still without power and on boil-water advisory.

Despite all the preparation, we still got soundly trounced.

Hello Tito??? Did you die?

I figured Tito would die doing 100+mph, I just never guessed it would be flying through the air like a ragdoll.
hahahahahahaha

i'm still here.. i'm at work now. my house still doesn't have power/phone/water/cell phone/ect. not expected to get it back for 3 more days. the hurricane got here thurs. afternoon, but we lost phone/power/water at 5 am thursday morning.. wtf?

I didn't have a way out of my neighborhood until yesterday from trees blocking roads..

unfortunatly, the escort came out without a scratch. :)

some pictures my friend took around my 'hood.

With all the love/hate around here, you'd think this was a site dedicated to bipolar circus clowns that moonlight as morticians.

Glad to hear from you all and to know you're safe and sound. Hope the clean up goes well and that all utilities are back 'on line' soon.

As if to add insult to injury, we had a tornado this morning and more bad weather. Destroyed a trailer out in the country when it did touch down. We've been staying in my parent's condo while power's out and heard the funnel cloud come roaring overhead this morning around 6-ish.

I swear, we're a big black X on somebody's map upstairs....

The weather here in England has been fabulous for the last two months. Yesterday (London area) it was cloudy but very warm - at around 3.00pm it became black as night and we had a cloudburst complete with hail. The temperature dropped so low and so quickly that all the windows in the front of my house steamed up. The wind was so strong the trees were bending right over and I lost a couple of tiles off the roof.

Apparently there were mini-tornadoes touching down all over the place! Every time the US east coast has extreme weather, we get it here although the weathermen say it has nothing to do with the US weather - hard to believe them though! :?
