Okay, so alot of you have asked what body kit I got for the front, and heres the answer, IT"S NOT A BODYKIT! I hate bodykits, everyones got em. I do my own thing from scrap I find. I take things from other cars and make it fit.

That being said, people also know I screwed up and broke the bottom off my bumper. Today I got started on the rebuild. I lay it to ya simple on how I did it, and show you what it looks like when not Body filled.

Photobucket resized it smaller, but if you can see, there were tabs that stuck out from the back of the Urethene Ground FX. I cut them back to match flush with the face of it, then cut grooves in the bumper for the tabs to go into.

you can kindda see where the tabs are, see where it sticks out a little, there are tabs on each side. you can also look beside the foglight and notice I cut everythng below the 1st vent off. In the middle it was tricky cause I had to cut real close to where the tab holes I made in the bumper, to allow for the GFX vent part that blows upward, keep it workable, maybe in the future turbo project add the intercooler where it will blow air right to it.

This is where it don't quite match up when mounting this high. It matched up better when I had it lower, but I put it this high to get rid of the "double-chin" between the 2 vents, and make use of the tabs instead of screws. I got a Honda Civic front bumper laying in the side yard i'm gonna cut up to fibreglass to it. YES, those are frickin HUGE screws on the side! If I had a rivot Gun I would put rivots in it. Or even staples if I had a Staple Gun.

I'll post more pics when I get it cleaned up, hope by this weekend. Still don't know how I'm going to do the foglights. The hole was 4", I don't have enough room now to cut it back out. IDK, maybe I'll give it a Asian Eye look, you know, Oval and pointed on the out-side edge. NE who, if I get some more work done 2morrow I'll post pics. This isn't like it's my 1st Rodeo putting this thing on...

    Got a good question....

Since I have to make up the difference on the side, should I just go ahead and make scoops on the bumper on the sides, kindda like the Mid-`90's Mustang Cobra? I think I need to bring the bottom out anyways.

Oh, and I got Side-skirts!!!! Free! My friend at the custom shop told me take em! Pics when I do something today or tomorow.

Way to go! Custom to me always meant "One of a kind". And finding stuff
other people are throwing out and rebuilding it is the best way to do things.
Free is good, recycling is good and using your brain and imagination is way
better than sitting around playing some game.
I always cruised the back lots at the body shops. They have a treasure trove
of bumpers that they will usually give away. A Mustang GT bumper shouldn't
    be too hard to find.

okay, I'll use the Evo2 Sentra front bumpr as a example of the scoop I am talking about.

Take where I circled, move it to the edge of the wheel wale, (where the bumper don't match) the height of the bottom of the stock overhanging lip of the bumper, about 6" from wheel wale. Bring it down to near the Corner of the bumper, but curved downward, and bubbled out about 3", adding a scoop that would blow even more air to the brakes than the GLI's little slotts. (BTW, YES! those bottom slots in the bumper, you know where its roke on the drivers side, channel air to the brakes, keeps em pretty cool!

Tell me if My idea is pretty cool, or leave it like it is and shore it up. I'm gonna leave it up to you guys!

BTW, got the sideskirts on, sort of. I'll take pics 2morrow, but I need to finish them, just screwed up for now, cause the Doublesided tape was about 6 years old, and no good. That and I don't trust double-sided tape!

Didn't get a chance to work on my car, but I did take some pics. Like I said, just screwed up for now. I'm not going to make this tread about the sideskirts but figured I'd give you a visual, still waiting on what you guys think I should do, just gonna make the scoops tomorrow if noone writes back.

Thanx for input on the scoop Idea!!!!! Since the only one that replied said yes, I'll do it!

The sideskirt never got installed, but they were supposed to be for like a 90's model 2dr Neon. Supposedly like a $250 set they couldn't ever sell when they did custom body-work. They had been sitting out in the sun for like 6 years, and got sun-warped, so before I can do anything to them to shore them up, I have to wait for the warpage to kindda pass.

I'm going to fill in the cracks between the sideskirts and the body with bodyfiller, and kindda smooth them out a little, same time I do the front bumper. I've been told that body filler won't stick to Urethene, but I know it will stick to JB weld, or to primer, and both will stick to everything! put a light coat of one or the other, then fill it in 8)

now to make it clear, the scoops will me on the sides of the front bumper. Iv'e had thoughts of a hood scoop Idea, but that I would need to retrofit a 2000+ Subaru Legacy hood to my car. :D Sorry, i like the small but, Functional hood scoops on them. One day i'll get to the J/Y for some fun!

i say no scoops on the bumper but then again its not my car.. i think it will make it look too body kit ish. i like it the way you had it just make it so it doesnt hang as low as it did.

as for the sideskirts i actually like them.. they look like a more aggressive version of an egt side skirt

Yeah, I noticed that when I got them.

As far as the scoops go, i think I'm just going to save the plastic I have for the rear bumper, get it all together, and maybe later add the scoops if I find another bumper on the side of the road.

Or better yet, my friend just got his 3000SL T-boned, it had a body kit on it that got destroyed, theres more plastic to be found! That story is a long one, involving a Silverado running off the road, nailed his neighbors Escort into his 3000, truck took the front bumper off and skid across the street, Escort pushed his 3000 into his Excursion! Totaled his 3000 with over 1,400 just in the motor!

    2nd layer of body filler:

I'll smooth it out with a final layer, do final sanding and all when I get paid this weekend. Oh, and I figured out a way to fix the drivers side, but I'll need to take the bumper off to do it, and that will have to wait til I have a few hours to work on it. That will probably be Tuesday. So far so good. When I figure out what i'm gonna do with the Fog light holes I'll get it straight, but for now, I'm just going to level it off. Sanding on 2nd layer brought to you by my trusty Harbor Freight 4 1/2" side grinder 8)

It just came to a [email protected]$$ stop!

Got in my car to come home from work, and when I turned right it would make a popping noise on the right hand side. OK! Axle, no prob. I'll get one and be driving it to work in 2 days.

Then I went to turn left and it did the same thing. I thought, "Both Axles, same time? NO WAY!" so I got going down the straight stretch of road, and gave it al little gas to stay at 55, and the pop became a pop, pop, pop, then it pulled to one side, then the other. Hmmm.

I know what it is, and the tranny is going to be replaced, since it already leaks, REALLY BAD! This would be a sure fire diferental stripped out. Problem with this is I was already in debt, and now it's going to be worse! Now the credit card I put all my stuff on is going over the limit just for a J/Y tranny with a 30 day waranty on it. SO, it's gonna be about a week or 2 b4 I can work on this thing again, sorry.

On a good note, I found my premium Gold Bondo Body filler, it is a smoother, richer body filler that Smooths out alot better. it's also $10 a pint, so I was really happy to see it!

Okay, now that I'm sure that my scort is back up and running, *BANGS on wood desk* I got a little more done to my bumper a few days ago. took the sander to it, and knocked off the klingons. lookin a little better, but I have to put a little more body filler in it, and to do that I'll remove it. NTM, I need to fix the broke piece on the Drivers side, and I decided that I would rather do that with the whole bumper upside-down. Still Don't know what to do with the Fog-lights, noone has really helped either. Lemme know whatcha think!!!!

I'll take pics B4 and After I do the work to it 2morrow. BTW: when you see it like it is now, don't hate on the bad Primer job, it rained right b4 and after I sprayed.

okay, had to devote all my spare time to stripping the parts car.... SUX! all I got left is the brake calipers and Windshield. Come to find out, had the tool all this time to get it out. Once it's out, itsa cakewalk to put in another car!

okay, lookin at Sunday being a good day to work on it a bit, I'm probably gonna swap bumpers just so I can drive my car if needed, then turn it facing upward, that way I can literally pour it into the holes. This also gives me better access to the back-side of the bumper to shore it up enough to take a impact, NTM easy access to fix the drivers-side.

sorry it's taking me so long, but I hated to see NEthing off that parts car go to waste. I mean crap! I got everything I need to convert the Project car to a manual Transmission car, (minus transmission itself). BTW: if NE 1 is in the Eastern NC area and find a 5-speed Protege totaled, lemme know! I'll take that motor and tranny! :D
