Hello I have a gen 1 wagon (1984 5 speed diesel escort). I want to convert to manual brakes. I bought a manual master cylinder But it seems the powered brake cars use a different portioning/combination valve. Anyone know what I will have to do to convert the brakes? thanks

You probably need a different brake pedal. The pivot points are different between the manual and power brake pedal. With the wrong pivot, you may not be able to press hard enough.

The proportioning valve should be the same, the brake masters are different as are some of the brake line fittings (different size) that go from the master to the proportioning valve.

I have done this on a 1982 Escort.

I understand what you are saying and it may be a lost cause. the manual master cylinder only has 2 ports which i assume is split into four at the proportion valve and such, the powered master cylinder has 4 ports. hence why i thought the valve setup might be different. If im also going to have to change the pedal mounts and whatever else i may abandon this pursuit. plenty of other stuff to do on this much neglected diesel escort. Thank you for your input
