and the 91-96 Lx has an 11.9 or 12 gallon tank
I'd be curious as to if anyone has taken a LX and put in the larger GT gas tank into in for 1991-1996. It would be nice to have the slightly larger capacity of the GT gas tank.

If anything, I like smaller gas tanks. Less weight, and less of that horribly-designed sloshing around stuff in corners. I wouldn't mind putting the festiva's 10-gallon tank on my GT.

Large tanks are for lazy people who don't enjoy filling up their cars every 100 miles. I'd have a 6 gallon tank if it were up to me. My 3000GT's got a 20 gallon tank on it. It's insane.

I almost agree, but for different reasons... I always wait for my tank to be nearly empty before I fill - hence sometimes I get caught in a 'I've gotta fill 13 gallons a 2.05' situation. I know I don't /have/ to fill it, but... Anyways. I do take the car on long highway trips, and I like being able to get to KC doing 90 the entire way without refilling. (Uses about 2/3's of a tank.) The car has been to Alabamba, Kentucky, Tennessee, etc. All over the country. They design cars to have about a 3-500 mile range. So they put in the size tank that will get the car that far without refilling. For my dad's truck, that's a 20 gallong tank and a 16 gallon tank. For my mom's saturn, that's like a 9 or ten gallon tank. You get the idea.

damn, that means i must get horrible gas mileage: the best i ever got from a full tank was around 280miles. i think 286 was my limit, and i literally ran out of gas. but it seems that a safe time to refill for me would be between every 200 & 250 miles. (i have the lx 11.9 gal tank).

but yeah, i remember reading all the mpg stats on cars all over the net, and most of them claim they all last around 300-325 miles on a full tank.

My car will get you to Kansas City and maybe a third or half the way back, depending on wind, if you do the speed limit the whole way. If you do 55 (dangerous, speed limit is 70 and most people do 90) you get awesome mileage. Dunno exactly how far, always end up driving it in the city once I get where I'm going. My car supposedly can go 469 or so miles on a tank. (read it on edmunds.) I usually fill up about every 350 miles. I drive in the city, and I drive hard. It's supposed to get about 419 or something (don't remember) on a tank through the city. I figure if I put ten gallons in, and have 3 left over, and I get about 28 (through normal driving) I'm pretty close to that. It's supposed to average 37 on the highway. If I drove slow, I.E. never revved above 3k, the way my mom does, then I could probably get a /lot/ more out of it. I bet I could probably go 400 around town before I need to refill, maybe over 500 on the highway. It's not that big a stretched, only 30 miles or so. Maybe. I'd try it and see but... Every time I tbe think I'm gonna do that I end up forgetting.

I got 280 miles out of a tank of gas on my Si. 13.2 gallon tank, and it literally died at 280 miles. of course this was after 40 minutes of idling waiting for a f**king train.

before my engine swap i was getting 318(completely out of gas) miles. I just thought that was how the car was, but when i swapped engine i get about 370-390 per tank

Dude, 160 is not good. That's terrible mileage, even for like, a musclecar, which your car isn't. Give it a tune-up, new plugs, etc, and if that doesn't improve it... Take it somewhere and have them look at it. A stock GT /should/ probably be able to go around 300 on a tank, even if you rev it all the time... I mean it sounds like it has something wrong with it, maybe you're losing power too? I mean using twice the gas is hardly natural, especially for a car with only 64k on it. Unless, of course, you drive around at 7k ALL the time. And I mean /all/ the time...
