The gas struts on my '91 3-door hatch are not what they used to be . On cold days such as today in S.K. (Canada) the hatch won't stay up at all. Anyone know where I could find replacements. ( Don't say Ford dealers or junkyards please.)

I'm pretty sure I saw sets of gas shocks at Pepboys. you can check there or go to any other automotive store. I think they were pretty cheap too

Canadian Tire can get them. A lot of them stock them... I was suprised to see it! If you can't find them, I can probably get them in a day or two.

They're about $20 each I think.

You'll find that in colder weather, they don't have as much balls, because the gas gets denser and blah blah blah. The ones you have now may be fine in the summer.

Nonetheless, replace 'em. They're a nuisance when they don't do their job.

With a little ingenuity, you could use those on the hatch. It would certainly stay open when you wanted it to. Just not sure you could close it.
