Hey,

I´ve got a stock 94 LX that does pretty well on gas. With the cold weather and lots of snow we´ve been having in Southern Ontario I´ve been getting no better than 30mpg (I also drive on some pretty crappy roads). Since in the winter I don´t drive the car below 1/4 tank (for safety), it´s about 325km from 3/4 of a tank, in 3/4 highway (80km/h roads, I do 90) and 1/4 city driving. In the summer I drive the car until I suck every last bit of gas out of it. Then I usually get 40mpg or better out of the car, that´s well over 500km out of a tank. It´s worth noting that the car is exceptionally well maintained, and the tire pressures are checked weekly. If you got any questions my e-mail is [email protected]

Hmmmm, maybe I have a problem. I think I may be running rich, my emission levels from last year were borderline pass, and the stench from the exhaust pipe is very strong. Now does anybody know what could affect that? :-?

I get about 41.5mpg highway with 2 adults and light cargo in the summertime with my LX wagon, and I haven´t tested my GT yet but the previous owner said it got about 34-36mpg highway. Right now, in the winter, and the way I drive, I´m probably getting about 20mpg or so.

Check your o2 sensor, idle speed, and VAF... sounds like you´re running really rich.

Last time I checked I was getting like 27.5 mpg in my 91 LX. That´s mixed driving with maybe 1/4 highway if that. And I always fill up when I get to 1/4 cause I don´t pass any stations on the back roads I drive, and I hate driving on E anyway!

Well if I go by my gas guage, I get 180-200 miles on a tank. then again 6 gallons will fill it up from "E" My guage drops so fast it is not a good joke. Can drive on E for almost 200 miles. 200 miles approx 320km. after that I get a little bit nervous cause ya never know when the fuel econony might head south all of the sudden.

I have been trying to figure this out.

I priced out an O2 sensor at 3 places.
1st at Mcleod and Richmond: $210.77
2nd at my work a Ford Dealer: $186.20
and 3rd at National exhaust: $56.53!!!!!!!!

Is that normal? Is the person I was dealing with mistaking my car for a 1.9 when I clearly said 1.8? All the people who have replaced O2 sensors, could you tell me if that is equal to what you have paid. All prices are in Canadian monopoly money.

I just bought one on ebay. It was 21 shipped. It was a BOSCH generic o2 sensor.

I can´t take the fuxxxoring heatshield off my futhermucking exhaust manifold, so I can´t replace the sensor. Goddamn bolts have rusted off. I guess I´ll have to ask the guys at the shop to do it, which sucks.
