ok replaced fuel pump in my 88 escort,1.9. ran for about 25 miles and died. replaced the pump again and the same thing happened. checked codes and observed code 95 and 85. am now checking ground connections. fuel pump will run for about 5 to 10 minutes and cut out. i am getting power to the inertia switch and power to the pump when i turn on the ignition switch. however sometimes the pump runs and sometimes it does not. is there anything else, relay appears to be working i can feel and hear it click when i turn ignition on, that controls power or signals to the pump and how does it all work? i attempted to run power direct to the pump with no luck. pump did not turn on. let it sit about ten minutes and i turned ignition on and car started. ? any clues at this time will be greatly appreciated. talipp...

If you run a power and ground to the pump, it SHOULD RUN UNTIL IT PUMPS THE TANK DRY--MAYBE IT'S PACKING UP FROM HEAT!
