I read somewhere about swapping the injectors from my 98 with newer ones. Is there any advantage to this? If there is, what year injectors?

You can swap in just about any bosch injector. Mustangs/F-150's of the same era. There really is no point in doing this unless you need bigger injectors. In other words, no unless you're trying to make serious power.

If you mean with newer Zx2 injectors i'm not sure there would be any benefit. I don't think they improved the design much. The only thing that is likely to change, if it did, is the spray pattern. I believe the size stayed the same at 19lbs.

There is a difference. 98 and 99 ZX2's had EV1 injectors and the newer years had EV6 injectors which have much better fuel atomization. There was a thread on teamzx2 where they were swapping in the yellow 19lb injectors out of Mustangs and Crown Vics and were seeing an increase in power and fuel economy.

Cool, I figured it was spray pattern if the design was improved.

    Thanks for the info!
Did the later ZX2's (2000-03) have the EV6 injectors?

Yep. Its easy to tell, EV6's have a full plastic body and the EV1's have a round metal body with a plastic top.

So... I went into my AutoZone and the guy behind the counter didnt know what I was talking about. He had no clue. He often has no clue. I dont know why he still works there, but I dont know why I still go in there. Anyway, I digress....

What exactly do I need to tell this guy to get these 'increase in power and fuel economy 19# yellow injector from Mustangs or CVs"?

Guys at the parts counter probably wouldn't know about this. An ASE certified mechanic might not know about it. You have to do the research yourself. I you have a 97+ Escort or 99.5+ ZX2 then you already have EV6 injectors.

I get tired of all these morons saying EV1 and EV6 injectors have different plugs. Both Jetronic and USCAR connectors were optional on EV6 injectors. If you grab the correct ones you won't need the adapter. On sure on the year but I know the injectors are yellow or orange. Or you could just buy 19lb Ford Racing injectors. My advice though is to grab them from the junkyard.
