does anybody know what bolts or clips have to be removed to take out the grill? i looked in my engine bay and there are some clips holding it in place, but i'm not sure how to remove them and i dont want to just rip it out. also, when you get it removed and put a mesh grill in, how do you secure the grill? i'm not really sure as i am not very good with body/ slash engine work (i am the smartest kid in my small engines class, but lawnmower engines are a little different than 4 cylinders)

There is a screw in the center of the grill right in front of your hood latch that holds it in place.you need to unscrew that and use a flat head screw driver to push the four clips down so you can remove the grill.It is pretty easy.

What he said ^^ It's really really easy... I left that center piece off of mine cause I was taking it off so often. four clips and it's out with a small flat head screw driver.

Whoa whoa whoa... those four clips- they need to be pushed from the bottom AND the top. They clip on both sides.

Once unclipped, the grille requires very little force to be removed from the brackets, so DONT FORCE IT. It's a pain in the butt to get off, so take your time and try not to do it often.

Odd, I just had to push down on my four clips. Must suck for you...

You can get them off with only pushing down on the top, but the technically "proper" way is from both sides. I've broken grilles before using only the top clips.

i figured out how to take off the grill, but when i get the mesh grill, how do i secure it? i know it cant be that hard and i could probably figure it out, but i would like to save time and aggrivation and just get somebody else's instructions. Thnx

glue would be the only to stick it to the grill

You wouldn't get heat from the engine bay since the radiator is right behind the grill.Just go to the store and look for glue that attaches metal to plastic or you could use fiberglass resin to hold it there.

thanks, i'll have to try it when the grill i ordered comes in. it's supposed to come with a mounting kit but it's probably crap. i'll probably just try the glue cuz it sounds the easiest. if anybody else has suggestions i'd be grateful to hear them also. i always like to have options. but thnx again escortlx96 for your input - it's going to be a big help as i'm probably goin to use your way.

there's this stuff out there called "liquid nails". it's awesome. my friends and i glued an empty garbage can to the side of a building with this stuff once. i don't know where my he got this stuff, but i would assume home depot.

an epoxy might work, or maybe caulk would..
