i thought i would share this with you guys, i saw tracer-x's old post about the IAT thing, thought id share this one.

    take the accessory belt off.

the waterpump is run by the timing belt, so it will still cool properly, you just wont have power steering, ac, or a charging alternator.

me and my brother did this in my car, and my head unit can measure battery voltage, so we drove around like that for about 15-20 minutes, battery voltage only dropped .1

and it was NOTICEABLY faster removing all the accessories.

-------its free, takes two seconds, and makes the car a lot more fun to drive----------

DO NOT LEAVE IT LIKE THIS FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME

i dont want to be responsible for some buttclown draining his battery

so what your telling me is that with the engine not spinging extra pullyes it makes more HP? someone should have come up with this before.

Maybe a little less free would be if you could find some way to hook up a clutch system to the main pulley. A flip a switch and you cut off all drive to the pulley. Flip the switch back on and everything is running again!

it does not make more, it "free's up more horsepower"

because if the motor is using less power to spin th accessories, more hp makes it to the wheels.

the engine revs alot better and sure makes it faster. the only drawback is that u dont have power steering.

you dont need power steering. I mean its nice but you dont need it, especcially on a straight.

It's common knowledge (at least what I've seen on some sites) that you'll eliminate parasitic drag by removing as much unnecessary belts and pulleys.

would having no power steering help to eliminate torque steer, or would it just make it harder to control

power steering makes torque steer easier to manage.

are you asking that cuz jeffs video?

If I can't run it every day I don't want to run it. Belt stays on and my interior stays intact.

a note of warning for anyone doing this,

when your car starts loosing voltage stuff begins to stop working.

so, if you don't check to make sure you have ample voltage before running down the track - you could do something like run an engine lean because your fuel pump struggling to stay in the club. I'm sure lots of other sensors (ignition pickup?) can start to malfunction - what can happen, im not sure, but nothing good.

its a great little trick but just want to make sure you don't let it get it to low, i never see my voltage drop below 11 volts. (i will leave my fan on to cool the car when im running around.)

i've lost a few alternators on bikes and cars and it seems like the ignition is the last thing to go.. ive been in a situation where the power from the brake lights is enough to kill my engine (thank god for kick starts eh?).. this is helpful if you ever lose an alternator and you trying to make it home - if you see that power light come on the first thing you need to do is minimize your current draw. Same goes for the drag racing trick - start power management (lights, radio, interior dimmer lowest setting, interior fan off, a/c off, .etc)

i'd like to see someones slip or dyno charge of a before and after.
curious to see what percentage of improvement it really is.

when my alternator whent the voltage eventually dropped low enough that the guages stopped working but there was still enough juice to run the engine lol
