I'm stuck in the same boat as Tracer-X. I'd snag it, do a turbo swap, and MegaSquirt it if I could. Make it a track monster. But the wife insists that two projects are enough.

For a Tempo, any Tempo, the price is about right. However, given it's RWD, it's a bit of a deal.

One of Ford's worst build quality vehicles ever, no doubt.

Someone here (who has too much money and time) should pick that thing up and try to stuff that drivetrain and RWD gear onto an Escort. That would be a ton of work, but interesting.

Yeah it would also be impractical when you have a bigger engine bay in the Tempo. Indeed it is crap in stock form but that's why you do something like a 2.3L Turbo swap in it. However, Aaron's uncle has a more festive way to build it by stealing engine components from various vechiles (not all Ford) and building a monster (supposedly bullet proof) 2.5L Turbo 4cyl. Now the engine itself is a theory but fairly sound since all the parts fit on paper. Whether the AWD system in the Tempo can handle it is another thing as well as finding a tranny to deal with all the power.

2.5 from a ford Taurus(Stoch motors have good low end torque)
bore it out (3 thousands, I think)
pop in Chevy 305 pistons ond conrods
lil turbo in the mix
