Last week I just completely rebuilt my rear swaybar setup, new hardware (stock). Today I walk into Pep Boys and they´ve got a Prothane Motion Control kit for the Escort GT / Mazda Protege, etc. It´s the LAST one on the shelf and it´s discounted to $9. NINE BUCKS. Got 8 red poly bushings and 8 nice sized washers. This is what I´ve been looking for but didn´t want to order online and then wait for it to come etc etc. Plus it´s less than half of what Energy Suspension wanted for same type of kit.

Good deal for me - I´m installing on Thursday and will write about the response. Just changing the worn out hardware made a noticeable difference so I´m really looking forward to this!

It was on the shelf. I saw it purely by chance.

Since putting on the poly bushings, I´ve also replaced the plastic spacer units with small diameter steel washers - got enough of them to equal 75% the height of the original spacer. So the bar ends sit a little higher than stock. Makes the car more responsive sooner.

Actually the guy at the auto parts stor told me to just get a sway bar off a GT and it´s thicker and comes with the pol bushings. Anyone know for sure if I can put a GT sway bar on a LX and if it comes with poly bushings?

The GT does NOT come with poly bushings. It´s the same rubber as on the LXs. And is prone to harden and deteriorate.

Who makes those Bushings :-o Even with the exchange that´s a killer deal. Even better if I can find them locally.

Also, does anyone know if they make a front bushing set for a 2nd gen. LX?

Or will a set for a same year protege fit the escort?

I said this in another thread too, but you wanna get the sway bar off a wagon, it is the thickest stock sway bar and it will fit on the LX or the GT.

THE WAGON AND GT are supposed to bethe same size, there is a diffrence int he treatment or the the metal its self to compensate for the weight
and they will fir onto the zx2 also since we have put them on them

Yeah I believe they are the same diameter but the wagon sway bar is solid while the GT is not. ??

neither the 3/4 or the 15/16 will work on the GT sway bar. I talked to rob at ZXTuner and he said the rear GT bar is actually 13/16 I believe....he told me the only option is to get a smaller diameter and drill it out.....

Advance Auto has a trw kit (need 2) that are the red poly for 5.23 per side.
disregard this, as I went back to buy some and the only thing they have now is the black rubber. The others I looked at must have been boxed wrong they said.
