This is what you need to do: Buy the entire car for 200 bucks, take a bunch of pic's of it and show us.

The first gen engine does'nt just drop into a 2nd gen Escort, there are many changes that were made from 1G's to 91lx's.

We would have no idea to the specs on that motor, it could be any where from 0hp to 300hp.

Well for specs I meant on the stock exp engine and since it is the 1.9 im assuming that would make it 110 stock hp? and another question is , is the exp just a 1st gen escort because when I called the guy he said it was an EXP not an escort but I assumed it was the same vehicle. If it is the 1st gen escort then according to someone who I talked to previously said it would only need 1 or 2 custom fabricated engine mounts?

yeah it is the same car. later EXPs even said Escort EXP on the back.
The 1.9 in the 1G is the same as in the 2G but I think jeff is saying although the motor is mostly the same it's different enough to make it a very hard job. This is something I did not know myself.

For $200 why don't you just drive the EXP? What year is it?

The early frog-nosed ones were "just" EXPs.

<edited to add below>

Not all 1.9 EXP's were HO's. Some were the the base 1.9L. As a matter of fact, in 1988 you could not get an HO EXP, just the plain 1.9. I know because I looked into them when buying the GT.

I believe the specs on the pre-91 1.9's are a little different than the later ones?

You also have to realize that the pre-91 cars themselves are *completely* different than the Mazda-based Escorts from 91-up.

Well im not into the whole body styling of the 1st gen escorts, wel i like them alot more then i used to but i have a mint 1991 lx and a very good 1994 so im more into tuning them then the 1st gen. Also the body of the first gen escort is it pretty bad conditon and most of the interior is stripped. Would everything aside from the engine mounts fit correctly, and what about the distributors being different how would i compensate for that

Reread Diane's post. Than I want you to do this:
Park the 1G and 2G side by side and pop the hood. Now blind fold your eye's and randomly point to parts under the hood and pull of the blind fold. Now look at that part and compare it to the other car. Now repeat.
After doing that a few times, you will relize that every single part is different! Now ask your self, "is it worth fabracating every thing to make that ford motor fit in a mazda shell?"

Either buy a clean 1G shell for that motor and save your self many problems, or adapt that manfold and turbo to your newer escorts.
