Discussion Starter #1
i let my car sit for about a year because I was off doing military work.

When I came back I tried to start her up, a 1995 lx 1.9 liter manual transmission.

I put in a new battery for starters and then all hell broke loose. There was a weird whirring noise coming from the starters location. Smoke began coming from the alternator. I thought to myself, "oh fuck!" Well, I went to autozone to get the starter and alternator tested. Starter is okay, alternator was no good, so i got it replaced.

After putting them back on and crossing my fingers the 100a fuse in the engine fuse box keeps blowing. I don't know why, but thats why I'm here, to find out answers.

What do you think, is there something I'm overlooking?

Apparently all was well with the car when last driven I suppose.

Obviously there is a direct short somewhere. It would help if you
have a multimeter.

To clarify, witht the ignition off in lock position as soon as you connect the battery
the 100A blows? If not what precisely is the condition when the fuse blows.

A vehicle that sits too long becomes a food source and nesting spot for lots of critters.
Sounds like you had some tasty wiring.

I second that. You wouldn't believe the things mice, squirrels, etc, will eat! Sounds like it's time to break out that multi-meter and find your short.
