I have a 98 Tracer and plan on keeping it N/A. Getting my money together and trying to figure out gains price and blah blah blah b4 I do it So what do you think about this setup? Cold air intake(made by me),
performance cam, Headers off a 1.9 and a Universal Exhaust off ebay. Also I was told that a new cam wont do much at all while another said that on an escort headwork and a performance cam would push 140HP. Anyone have some clues to what cams wold be best if any at all?

I wouldn't bother with the 1.9 header, just get the focus central shorty header for the SPI focus its a direct fit and it a high quality header (I think they run about $225). If you are getting a header you might also want to consider a catback exhaust, not just a universal you want mandrel bent if you want to see any performance gains (Any from a zx2 will fit trust me I have done it) pace setter cat back runs about $200. Also if you can wait a while I'm currently designing an "off-road" pipe that will replace the down pipe and cat with a mandrel bent pipe (which should be good for a few extra ponies). Making your own CAI is a great way to but you can get one that is an exact fit from CTA for $139 which is a decent price. A cam will make a differance for sure ecspeacialy if you have all the above listed mods. I bet with everthing I have listed and a cam you would be close to that 140hp mark (at the flywheel of course)

woot! i am waiting for the offroad pipe.. Ordered the FC header and pacesetter catback.. still sitting living room, going to do it all at once! if you put a cam on the 2.0 it really wakes up the little SPI.. I also suggest a UDP and adjustable cam gear. some agressive head porting/polishing and 3 way valve cut will also get you ALLOT of gain. if you do that, you will also need to get a tune (diablo) so the ECU can give you just that little bit more. It is a MAF system so the stocker will work, but it uses stock tables. So gain potential is limited to conserative setting on stock ECU.
