Feeling Your Pain

I myself have had the misfortubne of people messing wiht my property. I am seriously considering an alarm, even though the only real things of value i leave in my car are CDs. I will shortly be adding a rather expensive sound system to my little green car so I will have to soon. I suggest you look into one also. They even have some pretty new ones that can detect if a window is busted, even if nobody completely enters the vehicle. My boyfriend suggested that type to me after he had his entire system except for the head unit literally RIPPED out of his wheels. He drove an SUV at the time and they smashed the back glass and pulled the subs, amps. and boxes all out even though they were bolted down. I guess security has become his specialty since that happened. I know youa re mad now....but maybe this experience will save you from losing something of even more value down the road. My car has permanent key scratches all the way down the driver´s side because somebody decided that it would be fun to ruin my paint job. Trust me... I will feel a lot better when my alarm is installed. :-?

security systems are relatively cheap in my opinion, i have a lower end alpine with the proximity detection - can give a warning boop if someone´s staying too close for too long, and will go off if ANYTHING vibrates inside the car. it´s good and bad - it´ll go off if someone goes through the glass, but will also go off if a cell phone is left in there and rings/vibrates. even my little bobbley-head cat would set it off :-? i´m in the habit of ´locking everything down´ though :-]

i got my system for $250 with installation (canadian funds, roughly $175USD)
viper makes a good one for 300 installed where i live. its the 500esp...but...if they are trashin ur crap, i doubt a security system will stop them. On my car, the locks on teh escorts are crap. other escort keys can unlock mine and i can unlock other escorts and i dont even need a key to start my engine. just need some sort of thing that can rotate the lock solenoid. Security for our cars sucks horribly.
Speaking of security systems I, um, found one in my car awhile back. Unfortuately I have no idea how it works. It was all hooked up under the dash, but the little horn thingy under the hood wasn´t connected to anything. Also there is a little light next to my radio that blinks when i close the door. (well it did before i unhooked the security system). When I took it out I noticed it had some sort of antanaa thingy going up the a-piller behind the plastic molding. Anyone know how this thing is supposed to work or how I could hook it up so it would?
take it in to an audio place, let them have a quick look. they could probably get it working quick
Yep I had the misfortune of stupidity. I left my driver door unlocked and some assfucker kid got in and stole my radar detector (minus the suction cup clip) and about 10-20 of my FAVORITE CDs....not just any of my cds...my FAVORITE cds. that pissed me off. worst of all the only thing covered by my insurance was the radar detector, but I´d have to pay a 250 deductible to get my 150 dollar radar detector back. grrr! :-Y :-| :-( :-[
I have a picture of the security system if that helps. Unfortunatly I cannot post it because (correct me if I´m wrong) you can only link to the pic if it is on the net, and I have no where to put it. The front of it says Alpine Mobile Security System 8030B. The antenna is an impact sensor, that much I do know; and there is a tiny knob to adjust the sensitivity. The wires are all hooked up in the car with the exception of the horn thinger under the hood. I don´t know where those wires are if they were ever installed. I think I understand how the alarm would go off, but what I don´t get is how would you stop it from going off everytime you got in your car (the impact sensor would obviously go off) and I´m not sure if there are any sensors that dectect if the doors are locked or not. Also how would it be turned off, there is no remote (the ignition maybe??) Any help figuring this thing out would be appreciated.
if it´s not too large in size, email it to [email protected] and i can host and post it
I´ve got a (very) hidden imobilizer switch which cuts off the petrol supply, as well as a ´crook-lock´ (steering wheel and a horn-type alarm). So far, so good. One of the reasons I never leave anything at all in my car, especially the boot (trunk), is that by breaking into the rear of the car, thieves can easily gain access through the back seats, into the boot.

Actually, I feel rather a second-class citizen around here, as one of the only people I know who has not had anything stolen from my car (tempting fate!). My big problem is people bashing my bumpers (fenders?) when parking - so far, no vandalism.
my alarm sucked!

in september of 2002, i purchased some white 17 in. motegi racing wheels wrapped in 205 toyo tires, i was real excited because it was a huge step up from the stock wheels. well, about 3 months went by and i was at the car wash cleaning it up, i spent at least 45 min. on each wheel. later that night i got home at about midnight, then one of my neighbors knocked on my door at 6:30am. and asked me if everything was ok, and i sad sure...why, then he told me that my wheels were gone. so i went outside to check and sure enough, my cars wheels were missing and it was left standing on the rotors, and nobody heard my alarm or nothing go off.

stupid alarm.... stupid people that took my wheels.
My neighbour bought a set of brass valve covers to replace the standard black plastic ones on his tyres - next day there they were - GONE. Can you believe anyone would be so desperate?

So sorry about your wheels though - personally I would rather give my things away than to have them stolen - it really hurts. My mum´s house was destroyed by fire some years ago and one of the men working on the clean-up asked if he could buy one of her carpets, the only one not completely ruined. He wasn´t sure if it would fit, so mum being mum, she told him to take it home to try it - she never saw him or the carpet again. Everything else that was left in the house because it was too dangerous to collect, was gone by the following morning. I just hope that, for thieves, ´what goes around comes around!´ :-o

Here´s the ultimate alarm:

Go to the best, most expensive car audio retailer you can find. Ask them for the empty box of their very best product. Make sure it´s big enough to hold a bobcat. That´s right, real live pissed off bobcat. Put holes in sides of box so cat can breathe. Insert cat wearing heavy gloves. Secure box to top of decklid cover. When night comes, park your car in the worst part of town, get a safe distance away and then wait for somebody to rip off your box.

Easy - sedate the cat with a large tranquilizer dart, put the gloves on, then secure with tight elastic bands.
Well....I think you all know what I meant, the gloves are to protect YOU from the tornado of teeth and nails from the cat....

A shotgun and rock salt would cure this problem.
