hard to compare RWD big block (or heavily worked small block) Chevy against 1.8L I4 Birddog.

Given the power per cubic inch the 1.8L is damn impressive.

Just asking... and hey modifications take the gloves off. and btw thats without the blower or the 300 horse nitrous pills. And I thought that heavy cars had a disadvantage on the line because the added weight doesn´t help traction. Doesn´t seem so - 1.8 is damn respectable for a FWD car. weight shift to the rear will always help the heavy RWD and penalize the light FWD.

By short times do you mean 60ft times, or 0-60mph. I have always heard 60ft times refered to as short times, and 0-60 as 0-60. Not that a 1.4 60 ft tim isn´t impressive in itself. As far as this 0-60 in 1.8 I´m no too sure about that. I live on a ranch with 7 houses and a cow, and my neighbors have a bull and 4 cows, so I am pretty farmiliar with the smell of horse shit and bull shit, and this smells and sounds like both. I´m not doubting he has a fast car. it is set up nice and I LOVE that custom intake manifold, but 0-60mph in 1.8 sec would me he is accelerating at 33mph/sec that would put him in the range of doing 8-9s if I did the math right. So unless he falls on his face half way down the track to get an 11 I´m not too sure. a 1.8 60ft tim on the other hand sounds more like it. My biggest question is if this guy is going this fast in an Escort why haven´t we seen write-ups about this guy in sport compact, or any other mags.

yeai got to thinking about that too, i copy pasted that from the left column on their cardomain site, maybe they took it as 0-60 feet. doesn´t the viper with ~500hp do the 0-60MPH in about 5 seconds? 0-60 feet would make sense then

Gravy posted here on the boards 2 or 3 weeks ago to show some pics of his car. With those monster slicks in the front I´m not suprised that it´s fast.. and that is most certainly a 60ft time. 0-60mph in 1.8 sec is something reserved for funny cars running 30" wide slicks and 1200hp.

I don´t know if it is THE fastest. but it would be fighting very hard. I can´t recall his name but there is a guy on the escortgt yahoo group that has a very similar setup. For the life of me I can´t remember the race team the engine is from though. its a hill climb team I know that... arghh

yep, when I say "short" times, I mean 60 foot. under 2 seconds to 60 mph would be fun, but few, if any of us could afford a rail or any other 90% nitro car.
