according to the clubprotege collection on the bp motor, the information about EGT motors here is slightly incorrect. I still haven't pieced it all together but there are apparently some differences in the years as well as the Mazda BP and the "Ford" BP we have.

The best way to get model year is the 10 digit in the VIN#.
    M=91, N=92, P=93, R=94, S=95, T=96

That's all the Gen 2 model years.

My 92 had colour matched wheels (Cayman) when I bought it in 2000. I have a feeling that the previous owner didn't buy new wheels either.

my 95 GT has auto belst no tilt steering wheel and dual airbags no ABS...for the GTs is the diagnosis plug in the drivers side corner of the hood near the back of the engine bay. is that fo OBD2? because my car went on the dyno at the emissions place cuz its OBD1 as far as I know...

You have an early 95 model, probably.

I'll bet that ABS/Airbags/tilt/etc were all options at one point. Not every car is going to follow all the rules.

2nd gen escorts are either 4door sedans or 2door notchbacks. its not a hatchback unless you can see the whole trunk. the metal under the spoiler blocks view of the "trunk" so it is a notchback. thats y the cops can't search back there. but if it was a hatch they could. I got out of a few tickets with that, and a good lawyer

oh and then theres the wagons.. which technically would be considered a hatchback

so the red one is a notch then a trunk is a notch...which isnt the case because a trunk is a trunk so it cant be a notch. and if a notch isnt a trunk it cant be a hatch or a hatch would be a notch which in your theory would also make it a trunk.

dont you wonder y your the only one to think this???

ok so a notch back doesnt have a trunk lid?... and a window and trunklid together is called a notch not a hatch....man you guys are confusing so what do you call a 4 door sedan with a notch back (i meen trunk lid seprate from window) and a gt with a window and trunk lid together whats that a notch back ...that doesnt make sence....oh well i give up you people are right...btw a gt wheel base is different from a gtr or gtx right?...im pretty sure it is like 2" longer ..the gt that is. just need clarification.

not positive on the wheelbase question it would make sense as the drivetrain doesnt swap to easily... but a trunk lid seprate from the window is a trunk a trunk lid that opens along with the window is a notch. and a hatch would be like a wagon, like an extra door.

A 4 door with a separated trunk is called a SEDAN.

The GT is a notchback (which is a hatchback). There are differences between the two.

Take a Civic hatchback with no removable trunk (separates whats on the floor from the hatch window) covering, an Escort GT has one, it's called a notchback. Same thing with Foxbody Mustangs. It's a notch.

It may or may not be a technical term but that's how it's generally defined. Why is that so hard to decipher?

Here... I will sort this out for you. Since you are arguing about the escort, I'll just use these as a example....

This is a notchback mustang, it has been called that for everrrrr. It is a notch because where you sit is seperated by a fixed divider from the trunk area. The glass does not move.

Hatch back mustang, also called a 3 door, has no divider behind the rear seats. The glass opens with the "trunk" metal part (very similar to the escort's hatch).

Inverse to the notch back, glass still stationary. has a trunk lid.

I see what you guys are arguing about since the escort GT has that flat metal part and a true hatch has the metal part completely vertical....but it ISN'T a notch... guess you'll have to come up with new name for it...[/img]
