Background: I have 2.25 pipe and a flowmaster muffler(Ractive muffler tip, for what it's worth) starting just after the flex pipe.

Future: Getting an 1989 Escort GT header.

Question: will this work for the connecting the header to the pipe i currently have?

someone once told me that, that cat would work for me. not sure if it's true.. which is why you guys are here thanks guys

i take it you have a 91 to 96 escort lx.Your cat is right after the manifold then the flex pipe.That set up should work depending if your system is OBD I or OBD II.OBD I you only have one o2 sensor in the manifold.OBD II you have one in the manifold and one after your cat.

DOH sorry... i have a 1997 LX

and as you know it's the 2.0 SOHC

and i think it's ODB II :?

Yep your 97 lx is OBD II.It is the same engine as the 1.9 in 91 to 96 escort lxs except you have secondaries.Those are the butterflies in your throttle body that open up at certain rpms.You have the same exhaust set up as the 1.9.I think the zx2 cat back system would bolt right up.You could get the focus shorty header from focus central.The 2.0 sohc focus shares the same engine as you.

The cat will work as long as you have a piece of exhaust pipe that goes from what ever size the collector on the manifold is to the 2.25 cat.

what you see is not a "Cat", it's a test pipe, aka a pipe which goes in place of a cat but does nothing....

its basically a shiney resonator.

that flex will work nice though. and his exhaust system is not basically the same as a 2nd gen, he has the additional O2 sensor that will need to be threaded in behind the cat (a real one).

i wonder if the shop will bolt it on anyway.... i dont think so, i heard something about "even though FL doesnt have emissions laws, the government has final say, so shops cant disable the CAT"
is that right? i hope not lol

maybe if im lucky that was just a "referance picture"
