My car stalled 3 times on the way to work today and I saw smoke coming from under the hood which seemed to be coming from the area around the spark plugs when I raised the hood. It's a 91 escort station wagon. Any advice you guys have would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Without knowing more, it sounds like a headgasket

this is the first time it has done this and there's not a lot of smoke from under the hood. It still seems to drive fine aside from sputtering a little bit and doesn't appear to be running hot or anything. Is there any tell-tale sign of being a blown head gasket?

I'd say check your oil level, that will help diagnose
