So the speedometer in my 95 LX Wagon is behaving erratically, as it turns out this is common among Fords of this era. Has anyone here figured out either a. how long before it totally breaks and/or b. how to fix it without taking it into the shop? It is sort of annoying to see it jump from 100kM/h to 120 and back .... and noisy as well.

Cheers

The same thing happened in my Mustang before. The only thing is it was because the cable needed to be lubed. I´m not sure if the second gen scorts used cables or not on the spedo´s. Most newer car use electronic speed sensors in the tranny. But if it does turn out that your car has a speedo cable, just take the inside part of it out and smear some high temp grease on it and put it back together.
