Sad part is I think the freezer behind is more powerful than my stock LX

Polished the headlights too. Best 5 minutes I ever took. A buffing wheel and turtle wax polishing compound is my friend.

Was test fitting up the headlight assemblies. That rad support I bougth is a nightmare. Lower rad mounting bracket holes don't lines up except for one bolt, none of the upper rad bracket holes line up, and after test fitting the headlight/airbag bracket assemblies, theres no mounting for the top hole in the headlight bracket, and 3 of the 5 mounting holes for each of the airbag crash sensors are none existant 8O Worst part is this is the only place I know to get parts from, it's an obsolete and now very expensive part from Ford :roll: If it werent for this BS I'd be done by now :x

How much did it cost you for your welder anyways? I've got one that I can use at school, but I don't have one at home. And I honestly think that a welter and an oxy-acetylene torch are the two best tools you can buy. I'm tempted to say they're more useful than my socket wrenches.

I paid $499 CDN before tax for it. When I bought it was set up for flux cored wire, but my parents bought me the mig upgrade kit for Christmas so I can do mig welding with it as soon as I get some shielding gas. Buying the welder and the upgrade kit for $120 was cheaper than buying the one set up for mig ($599 CDN) then buying a regulator and hose :roll: As for the torches, I would really love a set of Harris cutting torches, but I don't have much need for them right now. I went and bought one of those dinky little Bernz-o-matic cutting torches that use a mapp cylinder and an oxygen cylinder. I needed it to cut out the rad support. Works pretty good except for the fact the oxygen cylinder doesn't last very long when you cut with it. It doesn't have the trigger on the gun for the oxygen like the Harris torches do.

And as for the headlights being yellow, my wooden work bench is reflecting in the lense. They're pretty clear :wink:

I bought the Neon because I didn't know if the scort could be saved and I needed a car right away to get to work. After a little costing, we figured it was worth while to save the Escort. The need was there in our family for another car so when I'm done it will become a family car and I will drive my Neon. Dad's picking up the tab for the parts, I'm supplying the labour, and we will transfer ownership back to his name again cause I can barely afford insurance on one car 8O

In the end it's all good, my dad gets a car, and I bought a welder

The reason Matt bought the neon (sorry, I can't bring myself to acknowledge that it is worthy of being capitalized) was because he could no longer deny that an auto tranny blows dead donkeys. Denial only goes so far in the real world we call FEOA.net. I don't think he actually had an accident.

One last thing Fixtit - when I checked out that neon site, I didn't think there was much knowledge there. "I looked everywhere, but I need help - where's the light switch?" Is that why you're back here more?

Matt.... got an idea... you sell the Pee-on to your dad and you pay for the parts. End of story. While you have the car in pieces... get a 5 speed in it. Or even better, when the escort is running, get another escort to fix up, then sell the Pee-on when that one's done. As for the light switch comment highanddry.... I think it was an option on those cars. I think some of them were pedal or run (like without the floor boards).... just like on the Flinstones to save people money. Hell... even teh SRT-4 doesn't have power windows in the front because it's saving weight and money, but they come in the rear!!!

not true. every neon ive seen with power windows only has the front 2 power windows, the back two are manual

That's johnsocrts old LX grille. I bought it off him because he had a spare he didn't need. It will get painted in the spring, as well as the hood, the fender, and door.

5spd is SOOOO much better :wink: I had new tires put on it today (because I had 3 brands of tires on my car, and one had a broken belt :roll: ) I took it out on the highway because I could now safely drive at speed without that serious car hopping vibration. It completely dessimated what my LX auto was. Now with that problem gone, I almost like my car now :wink:

I don't think he actually had an accident.

Yeah, I like the Escort sites better, but probably after the spring I won't have much to do with it anymore. As for the light switch comment, we've all seen posts like that on here

There's a lot of people making 300-400hp easy out of these things, but the sharing of info on how to do it isn't nearly as good as how we share info in EscortLand. Maybe it's because I'm still new to NeonLand.

The new batch arriving in 6 weeks will not have the same problems I have. I got confirmation from them the other day that the manufacturer in Taiwan screwed up in making the parts. At least I got a refund though :wink:

I'm really nit picking (or my dad is ) I spent almost 2 days just adjusting fender gaps, door gaps, hood gaps, headlight alignment, just so it looks not bad. Crazy thing is I'll have to go over this again in the spring when I take it all apart to paint it. She started up right away after over 3 months of sitting, fuel stabilizer rocks. I've been checking it every morning for leaks. So far nothing. I had some cooling issues before I took it apart, but between a new water pump, new rad, and new t-stat I let the thing idle for over 2 hrs and no problems. I should have pics up today or tomorrow. It's very techno colour.
