yeah i know, but in reno we have land mines around the streets so its a pain, im going down maybe 1.5" when i change the size of the tires to 215/45R17's or maybe 205/40R17's but i like the wider tires better

thats different and looks good, i was gonna do the zx2 front end but decided not to, i spent a few hours in the jy looking at front clips that i liked and took off the parts, went to a gt and put them on.

the best thing about changing the gt front clips is that the front says sport and the back means wide ass

thread jack!, hey how hard would it be to put a Zx2 front end on a 3rd gen? id imagine it would be simply replcing the front fenders and headlamps and the front clip

The body lines on the ZX2 fenders won't match up with the rest of the car. You need to cut and weld the two fenders into one. This was clearly done in the picture white-lightning posted.

i think he did that to match the body lines that go down the whole car. i didnt cut and weld mine cause im filling it in to make it more clean and smooth, and the rear bumper will change to a lx one and fill the lines to make it smooth like the 99 escort lx

if you can just go to the jy and see if the zx2 will fit on there, the lights can come off in one assembly. the 99 escort bumper bolted to the light assembly and fenders, and the lights bolt into the fenders

the only thing i had to do was bend the fender out so the door wouldn't hit the fender

but i might cut and weld the fenders cause filling that big space is gonna suck.

That is a sick looking front end. I think it looks better on your car then it did on the orignal. I like the sqaure head lights a bit more but that is still sick. Did you have to hack the whole front end or just the bumbers and hood?

I think yours are fine. But i'm pretty good at most repairs and decent at bondo and paint. I want to do the ZX2 front end, I showed a friend and he agreed it would look amazing. I'm just wondering if it's a pretty much bolt in deal for the front clip or what has to be changed so I don't buy the wrong stuff when I find a donor.

oh ok, pretty much the whole front clip is removed on both cars, you need
hood
hood hinges
fenders
bumper and bumper brace
lights and the assembly that holds them
prop rod

start with putting the zx2 fenders on, test fit and bend the fender out where it hits the door, there is a little bracket on the inside that hits the fender but there is no bracket on the fender to attatch so remove it or bend away, once the fenders fit well and look good do the light assembly

the light assembly should have four brackets on top, the outside brackets should line up to your old headlight location, the other two need to be drilled out. one the side of them should be a pin the goes in the fender and a bolt to secure it to the fender

bumper brace goes on, should bolt up. then bumper goes on. bolts to light assembly and fender, then the hood hinges are removed and put the zx2 ones on, put hood on. there is two hooks, that stick up and push the hood up when its down, there located by the hinges. put the hood down see if its too high. if so lift the hood and hammer those hooks back just a tad, redo until it fits almost flush

lights have to be re-wired, lights have the same colored wires, butt connect them and test then you should be done :D
